I think that part of the problem may be that many who fit under the category of 'Anabaptist' either don't have a computer, or aren't interested in faith discussion, at least not to the degree of folks from other denominations. I just never know what to post here. Quakers aren't really Anabaptist, though they share the title of being a historic peace church.
Actually there are a a few forums on the net that are dedicated to Anabpatism, including some very conservative Mennonites and Beachy Amish. Anabaptism is not about primative technology or old fashioned dress. A few folks I know on those forums don't take the Anabpatist Forum on CF seriously and choose not to participate.
Maybe instead of hiding in their safe ghettoes they should engage the world around them~that is, if their message truly is transforming![]()
I know that, which is why I said 'many' and not 'all.'Actually there are a a few forums on the net that are dedicated to Anabpatism, including some very conservative Mennonites and Beachy Amish. Well my first post here but lurk around alot. As far as someone who is not Anabaptist (I'm have a Restoration background) but very intrigued by the Anabaptist faith and theology, I use this forum to try to learn more. The websites I have found are good, but nothing replaces reading discussions with actual believers. So this forum, tho very slow at times, do have a place for me.

"Anabaptist" is a murky title and subject to however one wants to interpret it~~the theological/congregational is as wide as any other branch of Christianity, and then on top of that it is a tiny segment. Add all that together and it's a strange brew and not surprising to see this forum being either unused space or a battleground.
Peace churches are Christian churches, groups or communities advocating Christian pacifism. The term historic peace churches refers specifically to three church groups: the Church of the Brethren, the Mennonites, and the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).I do kind of like the idea of a "Historic Peace Churches" forum, though! That sounds both broad enough that there'd be enough interest and participation, but still well-defined.

The peace churches agree that Jesus advocated nonviolence. Whether physical force can ever be justified, either in defending oneself or others, remains controversial. Many believers adhere strictly to a moral attitude of nonresistance in the face of violence. But these churches generally do concur that violence on behalf of nations and their governments is contrary to Christian morality.

Yup, that's pretty much what I meant too. Calling this forum "Anabaptist" and including the Quakers is a little off (but not terribly so), but if we just called the forum "Historic Peace Churches", then the terminology would be a little more accurate, and we wouldn't have to subdivide again.
