  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do we invite negative energy?

I was watching Paranormal State, a kind of goofy show about investigating the paranormal. Often, they seem to be investigating poltergeists, or even what they believe to possibly be a demon within the house.

The show is kind of hokey. There are all the cheesy Hollywood cliches of each haunting - a crucifix turned upside down, claiming to feel chills, psychic getting impressions. The outcome is also very Hollywood - reading of the bible, holy water, a Catholic priest, etc.

However, what I noticed the most about these hauntings was that in each of them, there was some really negative energy created in the home. A boy was very angry at his mother because his father left the family, and although he knows it's not her fault, he is very angry, and depressed. In another home, a neighbor seemed to feed the dwellers fear, suggest a lot of the occurances and experience. There was often a lot of fighting, or yelling at one another.

This negative energy, according to the psychics and conclusion of the investigators, drew negative forces into the house that fed off of the energy. The negative forces then try to continue the strife in order to feed on the energy.

Lisah said something that has stuck with me for the last few days, and that is if we are not creating a negative space on the internet because of the tone or the rudeness or anger that can sometimes arise from having a debate and dealing with an opposing view. This is usually seen by snide comments, rude behavior, haughtiness, arrogance, putting the other down, mocking, belittling, or a number of things that are against the rules anyway.

Have you ever had a really big fight with someone, just all out screaming, when they then leave the room, and you can sense the tension physically? It feels electric, negative, kind of cold? You feel cold.

Can we create that kind of negative energy?
If we do, do we attract negative spirits, are they drawn to that energy, and influence us?
Do we create that kind of energy via the internet by responding too much with the heart, and not enough with the mind, in an attempt to harm, belittle, or exalt ourselves?

If so, how can we change it?

I do not really buy into the idea of positive and negative energy but I also tend to be very black or white in my reasoning with no ability to see any gray areas.

As for the arrogance and other traits for myself, tact is not something that comes at all easily to me and I often come across as a smart*** or just plain rude and have since I was a little kid, it is not something I intend but is the only way in which my brain functions in fact I try very hard to be less obnoxious arrogant in posts but it is not something I am good at.

Most people I know either really like me or hate my guts as there never seems to be an in between.

I guess what I am trying to say is we all have different personalities and as such there are always going to be conflicts that arise from that.

I'm talking more about those that bait, and then taking the bait, and then having the equivalent of an "I know you are, but what am I" conversation for 2 or 3 pages, that makes me feel like I need to bathe afterward.
Yeah I know what you mean, they annoy the crap out of me which explains why I still have blue eyes.;)

A spiritual vampire is someone who sucks life's energy from others. You talk to them and feel drained of energy. They can be very nice people and probably don't know they are doing it.
Ahh yes I have heard them referred to as killjoy's or downers but I know that of which you speak, sorry I asked such a stupid question.

In People of the Lie, Peck talks about spiritual vampires that, although they may not say anything in particular that marks them as such, you just feel very drained after talking to them. I used to work in a halfway house, and there was a woman that was very much like that. Because people liked to talk with me in the office, she would often invent problems to take up hours of my time, but I soon realized that the problems were simply manipulations for time and attention. Usually, in a conversation, there is an exchange. With a Spiritual Dracula, it is all about taking. They often talk to you to look for your vulnerabilities, and then play with them.

Shows like this generally are very hokey. With the right soundtrack and camera angles, anything can be made spooky.

However, what I noticed the most about these hauntings was that in each of them, there was some really negative energy created in the home. Can we create that kind of negative energy?
Yes, we can and do. We can, however, create positive energies as well.

I can't go into much detail about the methods, but raising energy is an important part of working magick.

If we do, do we attract negative spirits, are they drawn to that energy, and influence us?
This is actually more than one question, so I'll try to tackle it one step at a time. Different energies attract different spirits. Some are good, some are bad, but most lie somewhere in-between. Their influences on people tend to be subtle - the more aware we are of their presence, the more likely we are to resist their influences.

Do we create that kind of energy via the internet by responding too much with the heart, and not enough with the mind, in an attempt to harm, belittle, or exalt ourselves?
This is an interesting question. Yes, these negative energies can be created in this way.

If so, how can we change it?
Well, the best way is to master our energies and learn to control them, but that's something I can't really teach on a forum.

However, I can point you at some behaviors that might lead you in the right direction.

  • Take out the garbage that has accumulated around your computer.
  • Think before you post - How will my post affect others?
    • You don't need to censor yourself, but you should use some tact when discussing topics with people that most likely disagree with you.
  • Try to stop knee-jerk reactions to posts. Don't lose control of yourself - don't let habitual or reactionary behaviors take over. If you need to, take a break from discussion, go for a walk, take a bath or shower, and come back.
    • There is no need to rush to get the next word in -- the discussion will either be there when you return or will be closed (in which case it probably wasn't a very good discussion in the first place).

We had a spiritual vampire come to our church last year. I spend 4 hours with him and it was like I had worked 40 hours. Thank God he . . . disappeared.
This is a different, though somewhat related topic. It usually isn't the energy that they create that causes problems - it's the energy that they drain.

For pastors that are dealing with problematic people, I recommend this book.

I was married to a Spiritual Vampire for 17 years, he was very abusive and I ended up in the psych ward for months, after having a complete mental/physical breakdown. It took me 6 years to recover, and in the end he committed suicide.

I believe that what you put out, in terms of negative or positive energy, is what you get back.:)
