  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And God wishes to fix you up to be fit for his Kingdom. But that requires you to get on board for it. That doesn't require 100% certainty about what's going on (Jesus closest disciples lacked that). It does need your participation.

I think raven1 is wondering about someone who wants to believe, but is having trouble. Not somebody who refuses to believe. Does God require us to be certain, or is some doubting OK if we are honestly seeking Him?

My thought is that God gives skeptics the faith they need if they seek it. Does that sound right?

Skeptics, who fail to accept Jesus as Savior, send themselves to hell. It's their choice. Eternity in hell or eternally in Heaven. Far better to choose the latter.

John 3:3, John 3:16-17, John 5:24, John 14:6, Romans 10:8-13, Ephesians 2:8-9. Read each of those, pray, confess, and receive Him as Savior. Let us know.
Dok, I'm sorry but I read each of those scripture passages and while they are great passages and certainly true, none of them say that eternity in hell or eternally in heaven is the choice we must make. John 3:16 for example speaks of perishing or receiving eternal life, not receiving heaven or going to hell.

I think it's our duty as bible believing christians to accurately inform people who have questions about what the bible says.

No, I don't think skeptics on the basis of skepticism end up in Hell. I would additionally add that I don't believe that God "sends" people to Hell. Hell isn't a place God sends the wicked; it's the state of existence we put ourselves in by our wrong-doing and our opposition to grace, kindness and love.

.........those scriptures are for witnessing. When someone is wondering how to become a Christian, and at the same time is skeptical of what a witness is sharing with them, those are key scriptures. It is a great idea for both the witness and the witnessee to have their Bibles open when those scriptures are presented. One gets beyong the "rules," going directly to the heart of the matter. Obviously, after having presented them, one is prepared to build on them.
