  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well, recently, ive got outta a serious case of christianity burnout (basically, feeling like you might as well be talking to a piece of paper for all it's worth praying to god) well there have been other factors that got me out of the burnout, priv. messge me if you really want to know, though im not really feeling like typing alot right now... I will probably add the stroy to my journal sometime. Anywho, one step ive found is basically:
1)- Instead of praying in your mind or speaking into the darkness, write it out in a sort of prayer journal, it might not work for you, but I know it worked for me really well.

(well thats it, if any1 has other ideas, i would be happy to hear them.)

Hi there.

A kind lady here at CF taught me to use a small prayer box. What I do is I take index cards, write my prayers on them, then put them in my prayer box (which is a small box big enough to hold the cards). Then I put that box in a private spot in my room where nobody can see but the Holy Spirit. I list all kinds of things, like my worries, burdens, blessings, fears, praises, thanks, etc. Just life in general.

Thank you for posting this topic. Very interesting. :)

Yes, I do experience this "burnout" you speak of. Remember, we do not pray or go to services to experience an emotional "high". We go to praise God, worship Him, because that is what is right. He Does give those energies to those who need that infusion of Him, perhaps as an aid to their Faith, perhaps as a reward for it. But we are called to love Him at all times, in the good, and the bad. Of what proof is your love if you always get that "feel good" feeling from it? Love him through these brief periods of spritual stagnancy. That is the true love we are called to emulate. The love of Christ. When you are through with this life, Christ will say to you "When you were high, you loved me, and when you were low, you still loved me. This was the test of your Faith."

i also use a prayer journal, and i find it really helps. also, i sometimes have a hard time focusing on praying b/c i have a million things running through my mind, and writing helps me to keep my mind on what im doing. i also like it b/c i can write down when God answers past prayers too.
