Because my baptism's validity is important to me. I dare say, if I did want to convert, and they wanted me to be rebaptized, it would turn me away. Why bother making the announcement? Your baptism is a private matter.
Well, I'm not. But in those place I mentioned above, the jailer AND HIS ENTIRE HOUSEHOLD, the 5000 AND THEIR HOUSEHOLDS and so on, were baptized. Households, by and large, have children in them, who were baptized, too. And infants, too. It is inferred. It's never excluded. And again, baptism, described by Paul as replacing circumcision, was done to children for the most part. And converts.

Well, that's not what it really is, though. You don't read replies to you, do you? I was baptized as an infant, but due to lack of any documentation, and because of the seriousness of what baptism IS, I was baptized conditionally when I came into the Church. And every sin I had ever committed was forgiven. Baptism saves you. That's why it's so important. It's valid if you repented first, but it is merely an outward expression of something that has already happened on the inside.
By Judaic law. As is Baptism in the Catholic Church required by Canon Law.
Baptism proceeds repentance, ALWAYS.
All presumption on your part. Circumcision was a physical act that was required by law.

Where's that, in Scripture?

I'm so, so sorry you believe that. Baptism does not save you. If you confess your sins to God He is faithful to forgive you.
Do you remember Peter? And Paul? "Baptism for the forgiveness of sins", "Baptism now saves you...'Do you remember John?

The Ten Commandments, the 617 laws of Deuteronomy, we're not bound to any of those???Christians are not bound by any law. You are choosing to submit yourself to laws of men that are not required by God.
So, what Peter and Paul wrote are not inspired by God?Take the whole council of God.

But Jesus instituted a Church. Institutions have laws. The Church Jesus instituted has laws, though many don't follow them. They're the same laws for all Christians, because there is only one Church, only one Baptism, only one Lord.

So, if I go into a Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, etc. etc. church and say I'm a baptized Catholic who wants to become <insert denom here>, they won't ask me to be baptized as part of it?
It really does depend on the denomination and sometimes the congregation. A few posts on here have answered this for you. My advice: Be careful of the hypothetical church you choose to become a member of.So, if I go into a Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, etc. etc. church and say I'm a baptized Catholic who wants to become <insert denom here>, they won't ask me to be baptized as part of it?
Of the list quoted, Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, etc., that comment applies only to Baptists. They will if you were not baptized as a believer - by full water baptism.
