• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do prayers have to end with Amen?

Do a study on what Amen means. Then look at the various examples of Bible writers WHEN they used it.

When Jesus said, Verily, verily (truly truly) I say unto you, it literally means, 'Amen, amen, I say to you!'

Just some encouragement to you on your understanding of this issue & to stimulate further study.

Amen means truly, truly? Why say it twice?

You can if you wish, but I don't think it's an absolute requirement.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 says to pray without ceasing, so why say Amen?

1 Thessalonians 5:17 "pray without ceasing"

That's not really true.

But, no, amen isn't required.

2 CORINTHIANS 3:6

KJ21 who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament — not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life.
ASV who also made us sufficient as ministers of a new covenant; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
AMP He has qualified us [making us sufficient] as ministers of a new covenant [of salvation through Christ], not of the letter [of a written code] but of the Spirit; for the letter [of the Law] kills [by revealing sin and demanding obedience], but the Spirit gives life.
AMPC [It is He] Who has qualified us [making us to be fit and worthy and sufficient] as ministers and dispensers of a new covenant [of salvation through Christ], not [ministers] of the letter (of legally written code) but of the Spirit; for the code [of the Law] kills, but the [Holy] Spirit makes alive.
BRG Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life.

Thanks @topher694 what laws are there?

Christ is the end of the law for righteousness (Rom 10:4)

Not because it stopped, but because it was fulfilled (Matt 5:17)

Now the law has changed (Heb 7:12)

Righteousness is obtainable by the law of faith (Rom 3:27)

Which enables us to walk in the the law of the Spirit (Rom 8:2)

Also known as the law of Christ which we fulfill by bearing one another's burdens, ie loving one another (Gal 6:2)
