Have you ever been ice skating? If so, you will know that when you first start, you fall a whole lot. You step on the ice and start wobbling around. You fall about a million times and when you get home, your butt's real sore. But, as you practice, you become better until you reach a point where you are great. Falling is rare.
Now, let's apply this to our sinful nature. When we begin, we fall many times. We need to get up tons of times. Forgiveness and God's Grace is what does this. As we gain knowledge and wisdom of the Word of God, we become to be victorious. We can fight our sin. Then, we reach a point where we are wise in God. We have ran from our sinful nature and become righteous in God. We help those in need of help so that they may become wise like you.
1 John 2:12-14:
12 I write to you, little children,
Because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.
13 I write to you, fathers,
Because you have known Him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men,
Because you have overcome the wicked one.
I write to you, little children,
Because you have known the Father.
14 I have written to you, fathers,
Because you have known Him who is from the beginning.
I have written to you, young men,
Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you,
And you have overcome the wicked one.
If you read carefully, you will see that the Apostle John writes to 3 different kinds of people - Children, Young Men, and Fathers. When we are children, we fall. We must be helped up.
1 John 2:12:
I write to you, little children,
Because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.
Forgiveness for our sins and God's Grace keeps us going. We are learning and becoming wise, which leads to our next state of spirituality: Young Men.
Young men begin to be victorious over sin. They use God's Word to defeat sin.
1 John 2:14:
...I have written to you, young men,
Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you,
And you have overcome the wicked one.
This is the next step after being a child. We are wiser. As we gain our knowledge, though, we become very wise and grow in Righteousness. We are Fathers.
Fathers are strong. They are wise. They are victorious. They help the ones in need of help. They remember the evil one and when they fell many times.
1 John 2:14:
I have written to you, fathers,
Because you have known Him who is from the beginning...
Fathers are wise and helpful. They watch over us and help us up.
By reading this, you can see that you may be a child. You may fall many times. But, I say to you, do not give up. Keep standing up and gaining knowledge. The Lord is with you. Keep calling His name and have faith. You are just a child. God's Grace and forgiveness will help you and you will mature in your spirituality.
Proverbs 24:16:
For a righteous man may fall seven times
And rise again,
But the wicked shall fall by calamity.
Have faith:
Mark 11:22-24:
22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
