The meaning of this proverb is, do not offer your doctrine to those violent and abusive people who would growl and curse you; nor to those especially debased and profligate who would not perceive its value, would trample it down, and would abuse you

Mat_7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

Dogs, swine, pearls, represent truths of themselves as does casting something down before something, and a trampling under foot. They rend or tare at you with the same, but the truth/pearl you cast down becomes this lie in their mouth that they turn and rend you with. This is all the way from a balking obvious to the very subtil.

Swine is the meat of another father.

Mat 4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down ...

the context is Jesus' sermon on the Mount, it is surrounded by the "Judge not lest ye be Judged" account and the "Ask, Seek, Knock" account neither of which are proverbs. Your answers take no context or other scripture into account and are very assumptive. I'm looking for an exegetical answer not a topical answer.

What part of the words of Jesus are not spirit and life, and how would they not all relate to what he came to do which was reveal the Father. Both being the word, and his words are one narative that reveal the Truth of which Truth he was. If this is not so, then he is a lie and like all those who came before him, a robber and a thief.
