  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Proverbs 4:14
Do not enter the path of the wicked
And do not proceed in the way of evil men.

4:15
Avoid it, do not pass by it;
Turn away from it and pass on.

What is, "The way of evil men", in your opinion, and how does verse 15 apply to your personal life?

Can you give some examples, please?

Thank you and blessings

This can of course be applied in myriads of ways, and has no value at all until it's personal.

A major eye-opener for me was when I realized every instance of the wicked and the fool in Proverbs potentially refers specifically to me. Wisdom is knowing the difference, understanding is making the right choice, and knowledge is the result of that choice. Take that key to Proverbs and see if it opens things up for you ...

Proverbs 2:12-19
Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men,
from men whose words are perverse,

who leave the straight paths
to walk in dark ways,

who delight in doing wrong
and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,

whose paths are crooked
and who are devious in their ways.

It will save you also from the adulteress,
from the wayward wife with her seductive words,

who has left the partner of her youth
and ignored the covenant she made before God.

For her house leads down to death
and her paths to the spirits of the dead.

None who go to her return
or attain the paths of life.

The way of The Wicked in and outside of your world of inner being - are those thoughts and feelings transgressing God's Holy Law - evil spirits dwelling in flesh - promoting untruthful and loveless lies to rule and devour God's freely Created Good Life - every day again - as it is in The world around us.

Eph 6:12-18

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Thank you all for your responses.

I would also like some examples-

Here is an example for me:
The TV.

I have been convicted of watching television.
For me, the evil of it outweighs any good I can find.
It is not just that the majority of the content is ungodly, but it is a very time-consuming interest.

TV, for me, draws me into the wickedness of the world and takes me from other, more important things.

I'm not accusing others who watch it as 'evil men' but the content, in my opinion is 'the ways of evil men'.

I guess I am curious in what ways others avoid evil and pass it by.

Some Christians, for example, will go into a club and feel fine with it because they are there to listen to the local band, nothing else. They feel it's okay because they themselves are not sinning.
Is this actually avoiding evil?
Is it turning from it?
Is it passing by it?

Is evil in the eye of the beholder or does God have specific standards for evil?

Thanks

As my name implies, I'm a musician. I usually play in at least 3 different bands. Weds night I'll be playing in 2, at 2 different venues. That'll be a first! I had a rehearsal tonight, another one tomorrow night, for a total of 3 groups in 3 nights. Each is the ministry of Jesus Christ through me, an opportunity for me to grow, and an opportunity for me to sin.

TV is a HUGE weakness for me. At times I have had the gift of discernment of spirits operate in me, and actually saw evil spirits. Many others have also visibly seen the impact in the spirit realm that a simple TV broadcast can have, and the content doesn't even have to be "that bad." I was VERY glad when broadcast TV was changed over, and didn't change with it so I'm completely free of that evil.

So I'm showing a huge contrast between 2 different things, in me. Not to preach moral relativism, but just to make the point that Jesus is Lord! If you were to try to do what I do, you could not and it might even be sin. For me not to, would definitely be sin. The answer? Know Jesus!

"That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; Pp 3:11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus."

Yes, thanks for that. I appreciate.

I think I am reaching a point in my personal life where I see that many times I have personally found ways to justify things that weren't 'that bad', whereas now, I am seeing so much more of what doesn't glorify God in so many things. Where before, I was trying to reason what wasn't bad, now I am trying to avoid those very things.

Blessings to you.

Yes, true, and I'm interested in hearing some personal convictions.
Thanks and blessings
Personally I don't have a fixed list of don'ts. Having such a list is close to attempting to live by the law which is a big no no for me. I can't do anything to contribute to my salvation except trust on God's grace.
There are things I don't do because I consider them bad habits and probably because the Spirit of God keeps me away from those things.

Yes I like that very much but like to add a little perspective to this.

I found that when we open ourselves up - staying in his Loving Truth - eating His grace fully - then Divine Love enters us at our sinful spot within - so soon enough sin will roar - Daniel 7 - and the son of lawlessness will be revealed - Daniel 9, 2 Thes.

Yet only Free Grace will get the son of perdition out of us!

However the Dragon will burn and eat his ugly blood drinking mum - that unfaithful harlot who has been riding piggy back on that Abomination right within - and finally Jesus will be revealed when that seven headed abomination is cast down and the son of perdition is out of The Way. (And All this wonderful stuff happens in a single Day!)

The Candlestick will burn brightest ever after you have a turn through His Wheels within Wheels - Eternal Life! ( Rev 4-7 & 20-22.)

So as we all know within our sinful hearts - Faithful Love - is what we need brothers and sister - so having - Jesus - The Living Word within us is essential!

So just eating His flesh (godly ability to do good) but not drinking His blood(That is drinking in His Life Spirit - love for God, Himself and us all) will not do - in both He is One - for He is The Truth of God's Love made Flesh - only as so can He set us FREE form our sins - John 14 & 15 - as well as - 1 John - teaches.

So please don't take a little bite here and there or a little sip once in awhile - please Swallow Him completely - let Him into your whole life - everything - and let Him into both your good and your bad trusting in His grace. (Zechariah or Ezekiel 36-48)

mercy not sacrifice The Word urges at this point!

This means that heeding the Dragon\Accuser - Rev 12 - again or following His Beast controlling this planet - gets us no bonus points whatsoever - rather 666 we get for working and thinking for this World and not for God - Rev 13-16 - please do remember that beloved - it hurts God really badly when we take His Loving Good Life just for ourselves or serve sin with it!

Once this Truth dawns - honestly true His Loving Truth will have us in our flesh crawling underneath rocks and hiding in darkest caves - but it is not going to help much - until were dead in those parts of ourselves - The Word must come true always - please remember that beloved!

To be resurrected at the last Day!

So don't worry about the lightning strikes Satan casts on you because of your sin - for God's doesn't record those thunders rolling - but please do stay away from transgressing against God's loving truth! (The Vultures will tell you were the bodies lay!) and repent of unfaithful love - though three times those ugly kings will overpower your inner world and to get that arrogantly boasting voice right out of us.:clap::clap:

(Be warned beloved not to have life in that spirituality for Satan will certainly have you betray Christ and loose your eternal inheritance in that part of your life! It is best to die to unfaithful love! So just keep eating grace - othewise unfaithful love will spill its guts all over the place in The End!))

Only in His Loving Truth we can do it rightly - not otherwise! (Daniel 9-12, Col chapters 1-3)

Best of battles while you Supper on Him!

I guess I am just looking for a few personal examples, here and there.

I guess I am just looking for a few personal examples, here and there.
-I don't defenestrate people who don't ask me about my username.
-I don't slap people across their faces with a fish's tail even if it is obvious that they are silly.
-I don't blow my nose in the general direction of the elderly.
Yes I'm quite a role model if I may say so myself come to think of it.

Where before, I was trying to reason what wasn't bad, now I am trying to avoid those very things.

 Beautiful! Let me give you perhaps a different perspective of this you haven't yet considered. I've never met the woman that didn't want beautiful feet. Whether that meant painting her toenails, wearing ankle bracelets or whatever; it's only man that looks on the outward appearance.

G-d looks on the HEART.

Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!"

Song of Solomon 7:1 How beautiful are thy feet with shoes, O prince's daughter! the joints of thy thighs [are] like jewels, the work of the hands of a cunning workman."

"Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace"

 G-d Loves ya sweetie! Your walk is getting ready to start going places  I don't know how much you might know about the significance of Joshua parting the Jordan river like Moses parted the Red Sea, but please don't take this lightly because it's right where you are now, about to enter the Promised Land:

"And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it. Joshua 3:4 Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed [this] way heretofore.
Jos 3:5 And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you."

It's all about humility Sister! This is new ground which is exciting. The things you've "known" He has in store for you are closer than ever before, like a kid on Christmas morning. There are "giants in the land," that you have to KILL. You know what they are too! They're so big, you can't miss them.

You can go in like Joshua, and find it's a 3 DAY JOURNEY. Or you can also wander in the desert for 40 years. That's no fun.
