• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do electrons actually physically exist or are they just a scientific model we use to describe physical phenomena?

Edit: my bad for the spelling mistake. I typed this thread in like 8 seconds. Moral: always proof-read kids!
How do you proof read kids?

Anyhow, I guess you might as well ask..'does anything exist'?

Good question.

It exists in a format we want it to be.

For example, to people who have no idea about electron, you may tell him that electrons give you the feeling of touch. It is a correct, and a very good, scientific description on the property of electron.

God works the same way.

All phenomena are described by a model, that said, they are so well-described by the model they can effectively be said to exist.

In today's amoral (scientific) society, it's called DNA testing.

I love it! So now Amoral = Scientific. Tell us again how God blesses us with scientists, AVET. You are sooooo good at figuring scripture out so it makes sense to all of us heathen scientists! You make me want to convert tomorrow!

They better had or else the diamond synchrotron is a total waste of time. The electrons going around in that on average last 41 hours at present, now if there aren't any going around...

hey this is just a crazy thread. Electrons are one of the 16 particles in the Standard Model, of course they exist as much as anything else exists (a nod to Dad here).

I do proof read what my kids write, but if you really mean proof-read-kids then I'm with AV on that!

Intelligent life.... really intelligent life... is capable of overlooking a grammatical error and putting a comma where one was intended, when having an ability to comprehend context and intention.

"Always proofread, kids."

To paraphrase Wiccan_Child, it's what separates us from the animals, after all.

To the OP: a coma goes after the word "read" in your last sentence.

Ah, grammar naziism at it's best.

EDIT: Looks like I spelled "comma" wrong. Off to the gas chamber for me.
I hate it when that happens!

:sorry:

Yes, they exist. We know they exist with the certainty we know anything else exists.
