I got my lady a puppy for her birthday a few months back, and she's the most adorable thing you've ever seen. She's fluffy, she's playful, she's surprisingly easy to teach tricks; she's everything a little dog should be. There's just one problem...
Our wonderful little puppy is a racist!
Whenever she's outside or in at the vets, other dog owners want to get to know her. She's loves the attention, and she's fine with them bringing their dog over to see her... so long as that dog is a Yorkie like her. She regards any other breed with fear or hostility (growling, posturing, she even almost bit one
). We thought it was a fluke, but through various walks and trips to the vet (and PetSmart), we've noticed it happens every time!
Meanwhile, other Yorkies are generally afraid of her, and her relationship with our cat is as happy as ever.
Has anyone else seen this kind of behavior in dogs? Can dogs even recognize their own breed, or are we just imagining this?
