  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

To be fair, while off, those calculations were orders of magnitude closer to being correct than Ussher's calculations.

Ussher didn't calculate the age of the earth, he calculated the year it was created.

Shhhh....watch out with that, or you'll start hearing "AngryWomble is a party animal, therefore evolution is bunk" arguments.

We don't need Darwin's racism or party animals to know evolution is bunk --- just the Bible.

Well, you can believe that if you like, but it will only ever be persuasive to people who already believe the same as you, so it's not exactly a worry to most scientists!

hehe

If only i had the time, money and disposable livers to be one....
So if they could grow you a new liver, then would you be more inclined to destroy the one you have?

Proverbs 20:1
Wine is a mocker,
Strong drink is a brawler,
And whoever is led astray by it is not wise.

I think that "most" scientists do have some sort of a regard for the Bible.
They would not be much of a scientist if they did not accept it's validity to some degree.

Just because you have bought into the atheistic, communistic propaganda machine, does not mean that everyone has bought into their lie.
Most people realize the Bible has some validity and some value to some extent.

Um, what? Most scientists' work has nothing whatsoever to do with the Bible, so there is no reason to consider the Bible one way or the other to be a scientist.

Just because you have bought into the atheistic, communistic propaganda machine, does not mean that everyone has bought into their lie.

Doubtful. I'd like to see a world poll that suggests this is actually true. I'd be willing to bet that the majority of the people in the world haven't even considered the Bible at all (since most people aren't Christians).

You're a student, you guys get all the cheap nights out!

Yes but my advancing age means i take longer to recover from them now.

You don't visit this reality often you?

So if they could grow you a new liver, then would you be more inclined to destroy the one you have?

Have you heard of this wonderful thing called humour? Jokes are these great new inventions too, have you encountered many yet?

You really don't visit us often here on earth do you Johnny boy. IMO the only relevence the bible has is maybe as a loose guide on how you should live a good life and as a historical text. But then it's use as a historical text is limited as it's authership is debatable and it has little integrity due to the fact it has been chopped and changed and translated lots over the years.

Now, Hutton. Although i'm not the worlds best expert on him i think i know a little more than most here. So if people has ready my write up on him and want to talk about him on this thread i'm more than happy to.
