jmverville said:I vote "Yes, of course, it is obvious," as a conservative; I think that war is the tool for the liberation of the slaves and oppressed of the world. As surely as we gained our freedom through a war, so shall others; the tyrant and the wicked man simply do not lay down their arms.
War has abolished slavery, defeated Nazism and Communism, has won the freedoms of countless millions.
Can it be used for evil? Yes, of course; it can be an enslaving force.
However, to me war represents a holy struggle of the human being against the slave-drivers that push him into the ground. A ssurely as the American flag flies for the freedom and glory of its people,so shall one day the flags of lands who are currently repressed will fly again, as symbols of their people, their pride, and their basic rights as humans.
If we talk about war along these lines, isn't it obvious that a Conservative or anyone at all who cared about human rights and wasn't overly idealistic about it would support it?

Slavery still exists, and war did not defeat Communism in Russia, our involvement in WW2 probably saved communism in Russia, and it is still alive in China. Was defeating Nazism to save Communism a good trade?War has abolished slavery, defeated Nazism and Communism, has won the freedoms of countless millions.
Like the Oath of Enlistment enslaving the conscience to the State and violating Christian liberty? Can it be used for evil? Yes, of course; it can be an enslaving force.
War in general represents that how? A specific war maybe, but war in general? Most wars have been fought fought for wealth or pride. However, to me war represents a holy struggle of the human being against the slave-drivers that push him into the ground.
I'm really curious as to how you define freedom, as even medieval peasants would have revolted at our income tax rates.A ssurely as the American flag flies for the freedom and glory of its people,

True, but thats what happens painting with a broad brush. All the Republicans I know are Christians who love Bush, so that tends to creep into my views of them. Some of us can't think that, by definition.
