• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

oh so other words each person has a different standard of good and God does not?
Correct. God's standard is consistent with his moral law and never changes. Any mere human standard will never be able to match the total perfection that God's law demands. There is and only ever will be one who can keep the standard demanded in His law.

Exactly. The Lord gave me this thought a few days ago: "The One Who wrote the law is the only One Who can keep it."

Jesus fulfilled the Law in IN Him, we are the righteousness of God. That is why we can never fully obey God in our own strength. The One who wrote the rules is the One who can keep it and fulfill it. Jesus did this for us. It is NOT of ourselves, but of Jesus who lives in us.

Moreover. Jesus fulfills it in its totality by taking its curse and fulfilling its demand of death for the sinner. Only Christ can do this because he is the perfect sacrifice. So, not only does the sinner fail to fulfill the law in its moral sense but he can never fulfill it in it's judicial consequence because his death never satisfies divine justice. He is an imperfect sacrifice.

This is why hell is eternal. There is never any satisfaction of divine justice outside of Christ. In Him the demands of the law in its totality, from obedience to curse, are exhausted and only in Him!

For those outside of Christ the curse is never exhausted because if it was then justice would have to release the prisoner and grant them liberty on completion of the sentence. The sentence is never complete because the prisoner can never meet the requirement of a perfect sacrifice for his sin.

In order for the law of God to be upheld the sentence is eternal except in the case of a perfect sacrifice which is offered up as a substitute.

Very good and how very true. Great point. Our physical death could never satisfy Divine justice. Amen. That is why He alone is our Hope and Fulfillment. We can do nothing. I am helpless to do anything. I fearfully and greatfully thank Him for coming to me and choosing me to be His own. Everything I am, everything I have with Him, everything I understand with Him, everything that He and I share, etc, is ALL His doing.
