With reference to God repenting, only some translations use that word.

That type of repenting you make reference to is more like regret. Someone can do something knowing they will regret it later. So in no way does this take away from God being all-powerful but rather it shows us, that he is a God of love and one who is caring.

I don't know about born again Christians, but true believers of Jesus Christ who are of God cannot sin.

Ephesians 4:30-31 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

Since the Holy Spirit will keep those born of God from sinning. For the believer will know when the Holy Spirit is grieved, and he will immediately repent and is cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Satan and his demons will eventually give up attacking the believer and God will not permit him to touch the believer.

Perhaps a word of caution regarding jumping to conclusions in spiritual matters is in order. Sinning is a basic human reflex--ubiquitous in the human race. However, some have learned to cover up their excrement better than others. The meaning of this word is displease, grieve, hurt, make, be sorry. The most typical rendering is "grieve" but not in the same sense as we, finite beings, grieve since our sense presupposes that of an alternate path or action. God has infinite knowledge and foreknowledge.

The proper way to interpret the passages you cited is the writers describing God in temporal terms. This is called anthropomorphism and is relatively common in scripture.

Part 2 of my answer to you relates to immutability. God's immutability is fully attributed in scripture (examples, 1 Samuel 15:29, and Psalm 102:26:27 among others). God's immutability flows naturally from God's absolute perfection. Whatever changes acquires something new. God can not acquire anything new since God is absolutely perfect. He could not in any way be better.

Humans are, by nature, sinful. We can't help ourselves, even Christians sin. Luckily, God doesn't require perfection. All he requires is that we genuinely try our hardest to obey Him. When we do sin, we are to repent and ask His forgiveness.

I get that you guys have heard these question a lot of times before and its probably tedious explaining it all - but I do not purposefully "take things out of context" I read things and decide to ask questions about them. I ask people to explain the context to me. I know it wasn't really that impolite but I thought you were supposed to be welcoming? I mean no offence - but most people here tend to reply with a tad more civility or something.

It's a good and legitimate question, Owen. Christians sin, but we should be striving to be perfect, which would keep it to a minimum. Some sins are easier to avoid than others and we all have our weak spots.

As far as God repenting, the word nacham (repent) doesn't always mean that one is sorry for their own actions. You can feel sorrow or regret for something you didn't do. It's usually also related to a change in direction taken by God. When God made Saul king, and Saul dishonored God, it made God sorry and He changed directions, i.e. no longer blessed Saul. It's important to remember that in these cases God's "being sorry" is caused by man's actions, not God's mistake. My two cents.
