Jesus is the CREATOR, I believe that predates Hammurabi.I cannot know if the claims you make about your father are true or concocted, but you are most certainly wrong about the ‘golden rule’. It’s inception well predates Christianity...try researching the Code of Hammurabi....
We are all sinners, no better than anyone else, just washed by His blood. Saved by grace through faith and this is a GIFT, not earned SO NO ONE CAN BOAST.I never drink and drive and as only an occasional drinker of alcohol, getting drunk is not something I do.
You claim the golden rule comes from Jesus, well I hate to burst your bubble, but many religions and cultures claim ownership of the golden rule. Confucius was around 550 years before Jesus and the golden rule was one of his many sayings.
Whenever "He" returns I reckon "He" will have his hand full judging the Christians leaving him little time to judge the rest of us jolly old evil atheists. You never know, he might just think that his own followers are so messed up that he decides to give the rest of us a free pass. What do you think?
Well Sam Harris has said, in a tweet, if faith is true its true by luck.
Jesus is the CREATOR, I believe that predates Hammurabi.
The baby Jesus was. God emptied himself into a human vessel. Jesus existed from the beginning.According to your legend, Jesus was conceived about 2000 years ago. Hammurabi is considerably older...

"...before Abraham was, I AM." John 8:58
"In the beginning was the WORD and the WORD was GOD. He was in the beginning with GOD. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men... And the WORD (Jesus) became flesh and dwelt among us." John 1:1-4, 14
"For by Him (Jesus) all things were created that are on earth, visible and invisible ..." Col. 1:16

I know. They're not going to accept that. To them, Jesus was just a man like any other, if they even accept that He existed.
Because it is the absence of any one of the various religious beliefs one may hold.If secularism is so obviously the answer, I sometimes reflect, why don't they the secularists have so many "community centres" (akin to mosques, churches, meditation centres etc) often so beautifully decorated and with a half decent social life? I have socialised with humanists and they often meet in a pub or a cafe. Why the lack of social and cultural organisaiton? I dont want to be overly negative, but its a fact that remains unexplained.

I wonder where and when the concept of atheism began. Initially everyone in the family believed. Then their numbers grew and generations later, they distorted their beliefs or just started to doubt or forgot. They say all the garbage, false religions, philosophies, humanism, astrology, mysticism, occults, etc. came from Babylon. Then when they decided to build a tower to the heavens and be like God, God confused their language and they scattered throughout the world with hundreds of languages spoken for the first time -- when there was only one to begin with. That must have been funny, one day everyone knows all their friends in one language, then the next day, they start speaking something and look at each other - W H A T the heck are you talking about? But even there, most people, as today, believed in some god, a creator. Atheism wasn't a clan that just grouped together and was passed down through generations -like other belief systems. Did your parents believe? My didn't, but I know for sure my grandparents did. I think much of this atheist idea started with Darwin and his lame brained theory? What do you think?Only if your beliefs are true.
The CONCEPT of Jesus didn't exist until about 2000 years ago.
There are writings of ancient greek philosophers detailing atheistic worldviews, like Epicurus und Lucretius. Atheistic ideas predate not only Darwin, but Jesus.I wonder where and when the concept of atheism began. Initially everyone in the family believed. Glad to see an atheist adamantly citing the scriptures/ teachings of Christ. I am also sad that you would attribute one of the most valued principals of Christianity to some ancient king. Do you suppose that Hammurabi might have gotten this principle of "love your neighbor as yourself" from someone in his past? Maybe his mommy taught him this and her mommy before that?Oh, I’m ignorant...? I’m so sorry...
The Golden Rule was, according to the Bible, given to humans by Jesus. In doing so, he explains in Matthew 7:12 that "This is the meaning of the law of Moses and the teaching of the prophets". Perhaps you are unaware, but the law of Moses and the teaching of the prophets occurred well after the formation of the Code of Hammurabi.
So, make all the unevidenced claims you like about Jesus’ behind-the-scenes influence on those ancient writings. The fact remains that, as far as human knowledge is concerned, we were exposed to the concept of reciprocity thousands of years before Jesus thought to mention it.
Of course, it could be just my ignorance...

I read that this code was organized and originated from previously existing Sumerian laws practiced for centuries prior to 1792 BC.
It was also in the Semitic language. Those ancient civilizations came from the area of Mesopotamia, now the area of Iraq, but btw where the Garden of Eden existed only two millennia prior to that.
I wonder where Hammurabi got his name too? Do you think it was past down from one of the three brothers who got off the Ark: Ham, Shem and Japheth? And maybe Ham learned that from Noah and Noah, from his ancestors back to Adam, who was created about 1656 years before the Flood, which was probably only a few centuries before Hammurabi was born. And then of course Adam walked with the Lord in the Garden, who taught him all that is good. That was the pre-incarnate Jesus, God himself.
You believe the garden of Eden existed and that a guy called Noah and his family set sail in his floating zoo on a world covered in water to the highest mountains? You believe those absurdities and yet you call Darwin's theory lame brained? Yeah right!Glad to see an atheist adamantly citing the scriptures/ teachings of Christ. Your comment convinced me that you are not a seeker but a mocker of God and the Bible! Satan has got you exactly where he wants - convinced that neither God nor himself exists. The problem that you are having is that you are looking for someone to convince you otherwise and no one can. Only God can do this -- if you let Him. Keep your door shut, keep mocking, resisting and you will remain where you are. You think it's clever and a big joke. Maybe God will send you a dog to bite you and get your attention -- now that's funny! This speculation has convinced me. Dog is real!
