The ark is by no means a new story, it is simply a rehash of several other stories that preceeded it, most notably the epic of gilgamesh. Modern "theological historians", as they like to call themselves, are claiming that the ark is real and yet any individual who is disciplined in the study of history will recognise that claim as false. There is no evidence to back up that claim, and they are not qualifying their ideas either, meaning any claims they make must be disregarded because they are an absolute bias without substantial proof. The ark will never be found because it simply never existed. IF proof can be found and a consensus of NON-theistic Historians (As they would be the least bias and the most ready to accept historical revelations) agreed that it was proof of the ark, then I would change my tune. It will never happend though, common sense says no.

So you believe a lot of the Old Testament is a Lie?

The Ark will be there to testify against you an the last day.

Gog is typically interpreted as Russia. That's of course speculation, as we have precious, precious little information about the area beyond turkey to the north or Iran to the northeast during bible times. The question here is where the valley of hamongog is, though, and the Bible indicates that's near israel somewhere...

The identification of Gog with Russia is not speculation. Gog is "of the land of Magog. and "The prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal." We have ancient documents which clearly identify Magog with the words "whom the Greeks call Scythians." The Rosh (also called the Ros) were a well known tribe living from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea. The oldest known reference to that name (ca 350 AD) identified it as Gog. Meshech and Tubal were two ancient tribes that lived in the region between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, but when the Turks invaded in 1050 AD, they fled north. Their names are believed to be the sources of the modern names Moscow and Tobolsk, but whether of not that is correct, they definitely fled to regions within the area we now call Russia.

The government of Turkey has formally recognized one of the suggested locations as the site where Noah's Ark landed, and has built a visitor center there. If you do not believe me, call the Turkish embassy. I did, and they confirmed the report. This was based on excavations at the site.

Where they live (I agree, probably Russia) is one thing. Yet, to identify these names with actual modern states will always be speculation at best. As far as history goes, we lose people groups all the time. I don't know that anyone except God could tell us what political entity Gog will be... though I suppose we'll just find out.
