Any of you believe in Preterism? I ask as i have been watching Mr Don Preston on youtube and i am amazed that a lot of what he says actually makes a lot of sense indeed!

Be very careful of Mr. Preston's Full Preterism.

The disciples asked two questions and Christ answered two questions in the Olivet Discourse.

1. When would the temple be destroyed?

2. What will be the sign of your Second Coming?

Luke's Gospel contains the simplest timeline.

The following comes straight from the NKJV.

Jesus Foretells Destruction of Jerusalem

Luk 21:20 "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.
Luk 21:21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her.
Luk 21:22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
Luk 21:23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people.
Luk 21:24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

The Coming of the Son of Man

Luk 21:25  "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;
Luk 21:26 men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Luk 21:27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Luk 21:28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."

Based on the text above, Christ gave a "partial-preterist" explanation by answering both questions.
This is not Full-Preterism.

Don Preston claims Jesus is not coming back again.

He also claims Jesus returned to earth in 70 AD, even though He remained seated at the Father's right hand. Let me know when you figure that one out.

He also claims we are now living in the eternal New Heavens and New Earth, even though astronomers understand that the sun's Hydrogen fuel will run out and the earth will be destroyed if things continue as they are now. So much for Mr. Preston's eternal state.

Like all false doctrines Mr. Preston is mixing truth with error.

Adopting Full-Preterism is like driving your car off a cliff.
After you go off the edge, it does not matter which way you turn the steering wheel...

Preterism is a flat out lie,

It violates the basic tenet of scriptural interpretation - the plain meaning in proper context is always right.

Every Eye has NOT seen His return
The Jews have not declared "Blessed is HE who comes in the Name of the Lord."
The mount of Olives is still intact.

But, if you look at the evidence, there are a lot of unmistakable truths in what they believe! Things just tie up so neatly!

Is the mount of Olives to be destroyed? Where in scripture please so i can check? Ta

The devil always gives enough truth to float his lies in. If he is trying to float an aircraft carrier, it can take a LOT of water.

Zech 14.4 In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south.

This could be just the beginning of an event that will completely destroy this rotten, sin-cursed world and bring in a New one at the future Second Coming of Christ.

2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
(Full-Preterists claim this happened in 70 AD. However, the earth is still here.)

2Pe 3:11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
2Pe 3:12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Peter said we are looking for a New Heavens and a New Earth.
This is found in Hebrews 11:16.

In context:

Zechariah 14:2-4
2 For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken and the houses plundered and the women ravished; half of the city shall go into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3 Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations as when he fights on a day of battle. 4 On that day his feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives which lies before Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley; so that one half of the Mount shall withdraw northward, and the other half southward.

Bolded bit, 70AD!

Not really. Did you notice the phrase " all the nations against Jerusalem" which you also bolded? Rome was just one nation, not "all" by any means.

So 70ad does not work.

How many 'nations' did Rome have under its control? How many in the Roman army were 'foreigners?'

Rome forged them all into one nation.

You are catholic so you should be able to understand this:

Don't be so quick to dismiss all preterism outright. There's a big difference between partial preterism and full preterism.

Yea, but still multiple 'foreigners' within its ranks! Many indeed!

It's is a mute point because the Mount of Olives is not split.

Great video

Very enlightening indeed. I only found out about Preterism this morning so lots to look at and digest.

All false doctrines are exposed not by the scripture quoted by its proponents, but by the scripture they must ignore to make the doctrine work...

Full-Preterism is an excellent example.
