I am going to get one of those DNA tests at Ancestry. Does anyone have any input about it?

Huge waste of money. All they reveal is a general area of where your ancestors may have come.
My families' from Ukraine, and it highlighted half of Russia, and like 5 other countries. So helpful. They also don't show percentage of your ethnicity. Only the percentage of what country you may have originated. Which they got wrong.
If you have a general idea of your families background, you don't need this.
They also give the option of finding closest cousins, which is also useless unless you're looking for a lost relative.
Which even if you are is a huge gamble. Because they would have also needed to send in their dna.
In conclusion. Don't waste your money.
It seems exciting and fun.. until you get some lame results.
From my experience, they didn't have specifics. It might be marginally useful for me since I know so little about my family. I know roughly where they came from, but no specifics really.
I have also heard that and so I am reading all the info they give but there is a lot of it. If I am understanding it they say they don't sell it but use it in case of linking relatives together. I have to go over it again, there is a ton of reading. Thank you for your input.I heard they sell your results to third party companies. That's something to be wary about.
I pretty much have the same circumstances as you. I thought it would be nice to get some info that I don't have now which is very little before I dieIt might be marginally useful for me since I know so little about my family. I know roughly where they came from, but no specifics really.
I am part Indian so I am hoping to get something more on that. Thank you for your post and all the info in your original postFrom my experience, they didn't have specifics.
And the thing that was specific, was wrong.
But some have had accurate results, so who knows. Maybe I'm and alien.
