• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Yes, you can remarry. The bill of divorcement that Jewish men gave the wived they divorce said, "You are free to marry any man." Some men said any Jewish man. Jesus didn't tell them to put any different words in the divorcement decree. If Jesus really changed divorce that radically as some say, Jesus would have had to say how the legal decrees were to be changed also.

I believe you can remarry. People make such legalism out of things. Jesus wants a relationship with US and He wants us to care about people.

1 Corinthians 7:15 says "But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace."

And also you said you were in an abusive relationship as well. No one should have to stay in a marriage of that type.

Regardless, Jesus died for ALL our sins and He knows your beginning from your end. He knows everything that will happen in your life and all the choices you will make and He still loves you!

I have only been married one time (my husband passed away) BUT my husband had been married 2 previous times. Both times his wives cheated on him. I believe God brought us together (and guess what? we met at a bar!).
So my advice is to lean on Jesus and if He brings you a Christian man, and it comes to that, by all means live in Christ's freedom that He redeemed you from the curse of the law and feel free to get married again as long as it is to a believer this time.:hug::hug:

Remember also that God is not the author of confusion, but the devil is. He would like nothing more than for you to feel bad about doing something insignificant in hopes you would give up on Christianity as a whole. Also whatever you do or don't do in life is between you and God period. I always think of Job's so called friends that gave him very bad advice when things started to go wrong in his life. Even his wife told him to curse God and die and I'm like really? So I take what advice people give me if I ask and I do consider it, and then I ask God to reveal to me, what He wants me to do or not do.

I agree with the other posts here, some people want to be so legalistic. God hates divorce, but he recognizes it. Congrats on finding a good Christian man!

I'm not married. Never have been. However, I believe that God loves and cares for you. He wouldn't want you in an abusive relationship. Allow God to lead you. I also agree with my elder brothers and sisters who have already posted above. Hope you meet a God fearing Christian man!
