I wouldn't exactly say that Hal, Why do Catholics pray to Mary, Joeseph, and All the saints to intercede in our prayers ?
We as christian can pray to God, Christ, The Holy Spirit, any of the many Saints, to intercede for us. The Bible instructs us not to have any other gods before him. I was raised in the Roman Catholic church and we had what seemed to be an endless list of saints that we asked to act as intercessors to bring our prayers to Gods throne. I hope this helps.

I had a discussion with a friend about the Holy Spirit interceding for us through our prayer language. She said one member of the Trinity would not pray to another.
How can I answer her?
Not sure exactly what you mean. We all know that Jesus prayed to the Father.

The Holy Spirit does not intercede or can it. It is not it's place. It pray's (in the perfect will of the father)and moves in power. Jesus is the only interceder Heb. 7-25 He is the only mediator 1 Tim. 2-5. Let's put it this way, you have the right to put a petition on the mercy seat by pray. Small i intercede, the BIG I Jesus picks up the petition and Intercede to the Father on it. The Holy Spirit is not spoken of in Romans 8 it's the Spirit of Christ and the Father. I hope that this thead takes off so that we can learn the ways of the Hollies of holy.
