I agree, that the Harry Potter article is Biblically inaccurate because of this quote:
"If you have attended the movie, or allowed your children to attend. Or if you or your children have read the satanic books. Then know this: YOU ARE NOT SAVED! YOU ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN! "
What if a person went to watch the movie to discern if it is against God or not? Obviously, the author went and saw the movie since he knows what it's all about, so therefore he is condemming his ownself.
The Bible says it is a sin to misguide a child, and also to partake in any sort of approval of witchcraft, sorcery, and magic. The Harry Potter movies and books surely promote all three, and parents that teach their children that witchcraft, sorcery, and magic are "fun and good" could very well be misguiding their children in opposition to God.
Really, I think this site was put together by a few good Christians, but this particular author of the Harry Potter article does not have a strong command of the written English language.
I looked throughout the rest of the site, and there are several excellent links and articles on a variety of topics. The cult section is mostly very good overall, and at the least it gets a person thinking about if something is really what it claims or not.
However, I must admit I am disappointed with several of the reactions in this thread. They are of mocking tone. They claim that this site is judgemental, but yet are you not judging this site yourself? And on top of that, insulting others?
Sometimes it does take someone to speak up boldly and proclaim the Gospel, and speak the Truth.
If we are all lovey dovey and nodding together with satanists, for example, and do not speak up with "gentleness and respect" when "given the opportunity to do so," as the Bible says, then we "are against God." First love and obey God, then love one another through Him.
After a careful review, it is my opinion that this site is trying to do this, but again, hasn't thought its written communication over carefully enough in a few out of many articles.
And if we don't email the guy at least in "gentleness and respect," then what Good are we doing? Maybe he just forgot to edit this part and meant something else, because the majority of the articles on the site are of decent Biblical grounding. The author's name is Alan Yusko, and his email is:
saved@rapture-report.com
I can tell you from experience that this guy has put 1000s of hours into the site, if just a few adjustments were made in some of his articles it could really help change more lives. Maybe someone here is feeling a call to help him out with the editing, because it looks like he does need it.
How about we pray for him, that he would listen to our words of Love in Christ, and work on being Biblically more clear and concise for Christ? We are not all perfect, and he is really trying hard to serve God.
Also, to say that "this is not the way to get the message out in MY eyes" can be viewed as humanistically judgemental as the Harry Potter article. The Bible tells us the question to ask is rather, "How does this message look in God's eyes, and what does God's Word say about this?"
--If a thought doesn't line up with God's Word in the Love of Christ Jesus, then get rid of it.
