Watching the others leave, Majorn wondered where she would stay for the night. Maybe a change of scene would help. Launching herself up into the air, she cleared the stands and hovered just over the edge of the building. Far below, lights were being lit, and people were going home. Closing her eyes, she saw all of the others heading in different directions. She opened her eyes and swiftly fell to earth. As she landed, the ground became flexable, and bent in where she landed. Still not sure where to go, she curled up in a shadowded corner not far from the arena.

Seeing that the other contestants were leaving, Segarus stood and followed Denarus out to the dorms, where he had a room as well.
((OOC: Wait, Denar... heh, lol. It's Denarak.))

Denarak stood at the large double doors, watching the setting sun. The crimson fingers stretched out from it, the final and dying golden rays disappearing past the hilltops. He walked past the city gates and into the surrounding trees. Selecting a good one, he jumped into it and drifted off to sleep.

As the night stretched on, Majorn awoke shivering. In the warmth of the day, she had forgoten how cold it still was at night. She got up and began to walk in slow circles which grew ever larger. Soon she decided to wander down the street, with no one about at this hour but theives, or the odd beggar, she would have to be careful.

The street was narrow and straight, with a small stream running through the middle of it. Every know and then, a stick or leaf would float drunkenly past on its way to the river. The stars in the sky shone like gemstones set into black velvet, while the moon smiled down upon the sleeping land.

Denarak looked upon the same silver moon, feeling it's luminescent embrace of light. He jumped down from the tree, pulling the cloak around him tighter as night's frigid fingers tried to catch him in her grasp. Prowling about in day's absence was the only thing he felt like doing. Denarak was never captured by sleep as long as complete humans were. He tugged on a loose glove as he crept into the city. Most people had never liked his claws, and it would probably be the same here. Looking up, he gazed at the pinpoints of light that sent their gazes to the earth.

Denarak raised a hand to the moon, as if to hold it. His other arm went out, and he began a dance. He had been nervous about the impending contest tomorrow, but that anxiety seemed to have been washed away as he got lost in the moment. His feet took their steps with grace and precision, one arm was outstretched to the moon. The other hand moved like a swan circling around a lake. Nobody should have been watching him, but even if someone was they wouldn't know who he was... maybe...

The night wore on endlessly for Majorn. It held so many secrets, so many shadows, so many mysteries. It was at night, she had been told, that evil creatures came out, dancing under the moon, casting spells on the weak and strong alike, doing mischief, and much more. With these thoughts she turned another corner that led into a small intersection of four streets. It was clear, with moonlight dissolving all the black darkness lurking in the corners of shops and doorways. And there in the middle of this area was a dancing ‘creature’. All of the stories Majorn had heard came flooding back into her memory. Every tale of darkness and fear, clouding her senses, making the world murky and distant. She screamed in terror, yet she could not move. The person turned their head, and the face looked familiar.

The scream echoed in Denarak's ears as he stood, watching the girl. He lowered his arm from the pearl in the sky. Uncertain of what to do, he stared back at the girl. She looked like a statue, if it were not the color in her clothes you could believe she was made out of stone. From what he could see of her face, it looked like all color had left it, making her look like a wraith in the night. Had she screamed because of him? He must have looked like a strange thing, dancing about in the moonlight.

I should leave before she sees what I look like, I might be recognized tomorrow. Denarak stayed. If she is terrified of me, she'll probably be scared of going out in the dark for years to come. Denarak covered the lower half of his face with his cloak, and stepped backwards till he reached the other end of the street. His eyes glowed, reflecting what light there was around the streets.

((Other people REALLY need to join, or this will be a 'night to remember' seeing as how it will never end.))
After the creature stopped dancing, Majorn left life coming back to her numb arms and legs. A harsh north wind came howling down the now otherwise quiet street. It wipped her hair around her face, bringing the sharp feeling of pain with it. As her legs unfroze, she lost her balance and crashed backward onto the hard stone street. By now, since it had stopped dancing her curiosity was aroused. Standing up, she took a step in its direction, then another one. Hoping silently that it would not flee, for she wanted to see what she had been terrified of her whole life looked like. If it was truly something to fear.

((Other people don't REALLY need to join; it's just that CheshireCat REALLY needs to say "The following morning...". And if he doesn't, we'll make the night end!))

The girl took deliberate steps toward him, and Denarak watched. Now that she looked alive again, she seemed familiar. Even so, Denarak pulled up his cloak till only his eyes showed, reflecting the light in their faint glow.

I should run. Now. Denarak began taking a few steps away from the girl, towards the city's entrance. Finally, he began to run, hoping that the girl did not have some hidden gift of speed.

Seeing the fleeing creature, Majorn launched herself up into the night sky, so she could see all. Since she could only go so far in the air, it was more like leaping than flying. Whoever or whatever she was chasing, was extreamly fast, unhumanly fast. Well, I guess what I'm doing isn't exactly 'human' either. She thought. If only I can get close enough to see what it looks like, I'll leave it alone.
The night was growing old, the moon was losing her light, and soon the darkest hour of night would come.

Looking behind him, Denarak slowed to a stop. He could not see the girl anywhere on the ground following him. He turned back towards the city edge and walked, still with the cloak covering all but his green-glowing eyes. I wonder where she disappeared to. Maybe she was a spectre as she had looked like. But, then again, if there was such a thing as ghosts, would they get scared of someone dancing at night? Denarak stepped into the shadows, trying to keep out of sight of any other people with a knack for walking in the night.

Though curious, the night air was working its magic on Majorn, the fresh coolness, though reviving at first, was tiring for her. As she lifted off of the ground, it felt like a load of bricks fell on her neck, waying her down, down, down, suddenly the ground was close, then hard on her face, and then..... darkness.

((What do you say if we start a new thread with a link to this one? Just because the GM isn't here anymore. We'll continue from here though.))

Denarak froze, hearing a thump from behind him. Turning, he saw a crumpled heap on the ground. He ran to it, dark cloak flowing behind him. This was becoming a night to remember for years to come. Finally reaching it, he knelt beside it and turned it over. The face jumped out at him like dawn's sudden break of sunlight. It's her! Majorn... So she was the girl that had scared him so bad. He scooped nearby ditchwater in his hands and tossed it on her face. He didn't have a canteen of clean water, and he didn't know what else to do for an unconscious girl. He held his cloak close to his face, keeping all covered but his eyes.

((Don't really know what your talking about, could you give mor detail?))
Something cold came swimming through the sea of darkness, and with it an aching head. What happened? Why did I fall? Kneeling on the ground she wiped the last of the water from her eyes and looked around. There, over to the side stood the creature. Its eyes glowing yellow-green in the waning moon light. I wonder if it will run away again? Slowing she stood, keeping her eyes on it, like one watching a rabbit your trying to trap. Standing up, she took a furtive step forward.

((I mean, I haven't seen Cheshire Cat on here at all. So we have nobody to control big events in the roleplay here. So what I'm proposing is we make a new thread with a link to this thread. Then one of us will be the Game Master for the thread. We will start from where we are now. Sound okay?))

"Hello, Majorn. Are you okay?" Denarak asked her, trying to keep his voice from being recognized. He didn't know why she had been wandering the streets at this hour of the night. Maybe she couldn't sleep. Denarak himself barely slept; his body didn't need as much sleep as full blooded humans.

((That sound just fine to me))
It can talk! "Uh, yea I think so." The voice was familiar, though from where was still baffling. " Wait a moment... h-how do you now my name? Are you going to eat me? Why do you dance to the moon?" While asking the questions, she drew a few steps nearer, hoping against hope to see its face.

((okey-dokey.))

Denarak started at the her question on cannibalism. "Eat you? That would probably be the extremity of a nasty taste to say the least." He said, not wanting to think of what motives would drive him to such an uncivilized act. Why did I have to reveal I knew her name? He thought as he spoke, "Well... I... Um... I did tell you that I like to dance, didn't I?" He reached up to the veil covering his face, but didn't remove it. He shouldn't have revealed anything, but he had...

"Denarak?" she whipered, her eyes going wide. "Your the one who I met at the arena today, or rather yesterday." She lasped into silence, still awed at the thought that, 1. it wasn't going to eat her like all the stories said, and 2. that it looked and talked like a human.
The sky was now growing dark, as the moon set in the west, and the stars were darkened one after another. The north wind blew again, harsh and cold, like needles driving into her wet face. A bird, up early, piped a few notes before flying off to find a more attentive audience. And still in front of her, the eyes glowed. "Well, since I know who you are," she said, finally finding her voice, "you don't have to keep holding up you cloak or whatever you call it to hide you face. Were you born like that or did it, hm, develop over time?"

((I'm not participating because my character's asleep. You don't need to start a new thread - just go sleep somewhere and morning comes after everyone has agreed by putting their character to sleep. Or maybe this can wear through to daybreak; one of you can mix "saw the sun peeking over the horizon" into a post.))
