I never had a problem with body image until this past summer. After my freshman year in college I put on about 10 lbs and became self-conscious about it. I started the south beach diet with my mom to lose weight and lost about 18 lbs. However, I feel like since dieting all I think about it food and what I eat. I feel like I obsess about it. I've confided in some of my close friends, and they've told me that I just need to love the body that God has given me, and not try to meet worldly expectations. I just feel like that is easier said than done. I pray often about it..but I still feel like it is something that is constantly wearing me out. Does anyone have any suggestions?

first, many young people struggle with something about themselves. this is different from eating disorders. but there is a point when we can become obsessed with any issue in our life and make it more complicated. for your age, i'd guess that you are still building upon who you are, and building your coping skills. we all have struggles. my advice to you, is to know that this is normal; and we all need to build ourselves up with God has planned for us.
