I've been fighting whey protein sticking and clumping in the glass. I do use a blender when adding peanut butter or bannana but when I'm on the go I just want to mix it with milk or water with a spoon. I just dump a scoop in the glass and add the milk/water. Last night I poured the milk in first and started to stir. Then I tapped the scoop on the glass and let a little fall in at a time while continually stirring. I slapped my forehead saying "alright, whey to go!!" It took about 30-40 seconds and I got a good wrist workout. The result was completely dissolved choco-licious yummy protein drink - without a blender! I'm sure most of you have already discovered this way of stirring in stubborn-to-dissolve protein powder. I'm kinda slow :p

I always figured eating anything "supplementary" isn't suppose to be a pleasant experience. If it was you'd see whey "smoothies" and whey "frosting" on desserts on the menues at restaurants. I say stick with eating your protein shake with a spoon like the rest of use... or maybe that should be a fork? ^_^

Depending on what brand you are using you might try this. Pour about 3-4 ounces of water in small cup and add your powder. This makes a paste type of substance that mixes easier in larger glass. Keeps it from sticking to the side, floating on the top, etc.. A little bit of extra trouble, but it will get all of it mixed in.

It's the brand and the way they prepare it. The cross-flo, micro and ultra filtration is the best for disolving, for whatever reasons. Cytodyne makes this kind, called Cytopro, and it doesn't taste too awful. Actually it's not bad at all. I just use the blender and 2% milk, no problems disolving. The other methods of filtering the whey will lead to clumps in my experience. But you will probably pay a little more for the convinience.

I JUST got a blender and it has made my Whey protein shakes so much more enjoyable. Before I would dump it in a water bottle and shake it up, but I still got the clumps. Now I just have to make some kieffer to thicken it up and my protien shakes will be super-fabulous!

Hand blender man. Dump in milk, then powder, then use an electric single blade hand blender and stick it in the cup. They are narrow and will work in any wide mouth cup.

Check out the small appliances section at walmart,, right by the toasters and blenders.

Only blender shaking is what I chose to do.

BUT, if I know I am going to have another protien shake later on in the day,
What I have done is:

the container that you are going to carry your protein shake in, for later on in the day, I put the container with a 1/4 or so of water, in the freezer, so it freezes.

Then the next day, I make enough protien shake for that meal and for the amount I want later on in the day. Then I poor this into the container that I filled a bit with water ( and turn into ice) and then go on my way.

For me, the Ice in the container will keep your shake cool and so when you go to drink it, just shake the container, and it should still have the ice along with the protien, and then drink.

God Bless and good luck.

I still mix my whey with milk in a cup with a spoon. It takes a little extra time but I get it almost totally dissolved after a good vigorous stirring. I've tried lots of whey protein powders from many different companies and my favorite by far is ON 100% whey, chocolate flavor. :D

Ever tried to shake up 4 cups of milk, 3 scoops of powder, 1 teaspoon of glutamine, 1 teaspoon of creatine, one bannana and one yogurt? Thats a bicept workout. :)

You mean bicep, not bicept. Sorry that just bothers the heck out of me whenever I see that.
