I hate to start threads (especially "me" threads) and didn't ask (but think he won't mind) Vossler if I could start a new one about our breakfast meetup this morning but I want to share with you all how neat it is to encounter folks you know from Internet forums in real life.
I've met probably 200+ different people I would not otherwise have, missed out on probably 40 more in past years and will get a chance to meet another 15-20 in two weeks at an annual conference I attend, plus some meetups through Yahoo. Vossler said I was the first he'd ever met with.
We shared a geographic connection previous to him being where I live now plus some life experiences and the forum so we bantered a bit, shared histories and then discussed C&E and various aspects of theology... oh and talked about traffic
. The only thing I felt uncomfortable* with was that despite being nearly a decade my elder he's in much better shape than I am.
So if an atheist evolutionist and an evangelical YEC can break bread, here's hoping that more of you who happen to be in the same place meetup and share time and space.. and egg based breakfasts!
* Vossler, don't know if you're reading this or noticed it but as someone who is cognizant of his social interaction quirks, I avoid eye contact periodically to collect my thoughts as I get easily distracted ({note some of my tangents) who knows, maybe it's some form of undiagnosed Aspergers}. I wasn't trying to avoid you at those times, just collect my thoughts.
