  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Did anyone catch the documentary on St. Peter on the Discovery Channel last night (or maybe on a previous airing)? I was astounded at the archaelogical evidence and secular support concluding what the Catholic Church has been teaching all along: The ROCK whom Christ chose to be His vicar on Earth was indeed Peter.:priest:

Here's a link that I think will show some of it. It began with the archaelogical evidence of Peter's remains being in a secret tomb under the Vatican (as Tradition had always taught) and went to describe his home life, calling, etc. What's more, it singled out lots of Scripture to show how the Gospel writers pointed to him as head of the Christian Church and made this clear in their writings.

More details later, when I have time to elaborate... of course, the show did nothing to really give credence to the fact Jesus was God, or anything like that, but just that Jesus chose this odd fisherman to be his "successor" as the documentary called him.

I was just sure you were gonna tell us how Discovery made a mockery of Christian history teaching like the history channel does.
I would love to see this program as well, tell us more :)
I was too! The Discovery Channel is know for its anti-christian programs, even regarding Christianity . .. ;)

You mean they actually got it right??? :)

Peace in Him!

I posted about this program back during Christmas...this show, toward the end, started getting things a little wrong...like women being called to preach, James being the "authority", etc...

In the end, the show let the viewer decide...and they also had a scholar on there that said that he saw Jesus as just joking around and being witty when he said that "Peter, you are the ROCK"...the show showed the actor (playing Jesus) put his hand on the rock, then the scholar said that, "I think Jesus probably had a good sense of humor and ..." I can't remember the rest, but it struck me as though the scholar was trying to show some sort of evidence that Peter wasn't the rock...

...Which is SO funny since the rest of the show they talk about him as the "hand-picked successor" The Scriptural evidence is overwhelming (they even talk about Jesus' walking on water may not have been real, but a story in which the Christians want Christ shown as divine and Peter to be portrayed as His successor...)
