I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but here it goes.

Did All of the disciples not belive that Jesus would rise from the dead?

When Jesus was arrested did they ALL go into hiding? Did they return to working the jobs they had before becoming disciples of Jesus.

Did He appear to all of the before they headed back to Jerusalem to wait for the Holy Spirit?

Where they aware when the Holy Spirit would arrive?

On the day of Pentecost when they were given the abiblity to speak in tongues, was that the beginning of the FIRST church?

I think thats it for now, I am teaching a lesson about Jesus's resurection, the discples return to Jerusalem and pentecost. So any other important information would also be helpful.

Thanks,
Amanda

Hi Amanda,

Did All of the disciples not belive that Jesus would rise from the dead?

Perhaps understand is a better word. Jesus told them about His future death. The apostle John probably came closest to comprehending the events at the time. It was only after Jesus was resurrected that the disciples fully grasped Scripture prophecy in light of the events and what Jesus had told them.

When Jesus was arrested did they ALL go into hiding? Did they return to working the jobs they had before becoming disciples of Jesus.

We are not told where most of the disciples went, but we do know they certainly scattered from the garden when Jesus was arrested. This fulfilled Zech 13:7 which the gospels cited as, "I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered." Jesus is the shepherd and the disciples His sheep.

We do know that John and Peter were near or at the place Jesus was tried, and we know that John was present during Jesus' crucifixion and death.

Did He appear to all of the before they headed back to Jerusalem to wait for the Holy Spirit?

Yes, Jesus appeared to Peter (Luke 24:34) and then to all the apostles without Thomas (John 20:19-23). Later He appeared to them with Thomas present (John 20:24-30). Jesus also appeared to over 500 of the disciples (1 Cor 15:6). All this took place before Acts 2.

Where they aware when the Holy Spirit would arrive?

They had a rough idea from what Jesus had said. Jesus appeared to them in His resurrected body over a period of 40 days until His ascension. Jesus told them that the Holy Spirit would come "in a few days." 10 days later, on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came.

On the day of Pentecost when they were given the abiblity to speak in tongues, was that the beginning of the FIRST church?

Yes, Acts 2 and the day of Pentecost is marked as the beginning of the church. Although there are some Christians who define church a little differently, and downplay this event as the "beginning" of the church.

I think thats it for now, I am teaching a lesson about Jesus's resurection, the discples return to Jerusalem and pentecost. So any other important information would also be helpful.

That's a lesson which covers a lot of ground. I guess additional information depends on the audience. Covering the basic events though would benefit most people.
