Discerning the Bread and Wine

Holy Communion

Ok fellow charismatics, and those who believe in the power of the Blood, what does communion mean to you? ie what is the bread to you? what is the wine/grape juice to you? what do you discern about these elements?

And knowing the power of the holy communion, eg for protection, how often do you take it?

In the early 80s, right after going through a study on healing, I recieved the follwing song via prophetic word:

Have you discerned the Lord's Body?
Do you know what the word of God said?
Do you know what it means when you take it?
Is it more than just wine and bread?
Did you know why the Lord's body
was scourged and nailed to the tree?
He was taking our sins and our sickness
and a curse for became He.

So if you feel sick and feel tired
and your body is nearly dead
take some good advice and go find out
what it means when you take the bread
and like the Jews who came out of Egypt
who ate the lamb before they were led
not a feeble one will be with you
all because you eat of the bread

You have read where it says that ye were healed
you won't find where it says you will be
it's a thing that happened at calvary
when they nailed the Lord to the tree
Himself He took on all our sickness
and bore our infirmitity
so believe it just as He said it
and be healed forever and free

ummmm... lets see:

They fail to recognize the significance of the body of the lord? Why the body of the lord was crucified and received stripes?


1Co 11
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread, and let him drink of the cup;
29 for he eating and drinking unworthily eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the Lord.
30 For this reason many among you are weak and feeble, and many sleep.


(Clarke) Let a man examine himself - Let him try whether he has proper faith in the Lord Jesus; and whether he discerns the Lord?s body; and whether he duly considers that the bread and wine point out the crucified body and spilt blood of Christ.


People who fail to understand that the blood of Jesus washed away our sins, they fail to " discern the blood of the lord", are not saved.
People who fail to understand that the body of Jesus became a curse for us, and that his body received stripes for our healing, are (often) not healed and are in poor health.

To me communion is eating the flesh and drinking the blood. My communion is bread and wine, or the word and spirit

very good disdaskalos. 5 stars for your answer! *LOL

Paul said -- and this is the only reason given in the NT -- that the reason why Christians fall sick and some die prematurely is becos they failed to discern the Lord body when partaking the bread.

Most Christians know how to discern the drink/blood -- albeit incompletely still. ie the only believe its for forgiveness of old sins. But its also forgiveness for future sins and also for divine protection.

I've always felt the best theology about the Communion is in a short verse written by none other than Queen Elizabeth I of England:

He was the Word that spake it;
He took the bread and brake it;
And what that Word doth make it,
I do believe, and take it.
