I'd like to clarify that the bible doesn't contain any evidence of God's existence, just tells us He is real and how to follow Him. Evidence is hard fact. Irrefutable proof. the bible doesn't contain any of this. To try and prove God's existence is silly and counter-productive. It's not like God accidentally left out hard evidence of His existence, or that he just hid it really well. God doesn't want us to have proof, He wants us to have faith.

For the Christians here, although I'm sure you mean well.. Stick to the scriptures. The old saying "It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt" comes to mind. If you don't understand the subject matter, whatever it might be (thermodynamics, evolution, whatever) please don't use it in your arguments. You only make yourself and the rest of us look bad.


I'm a little disappointed in this forum.. Not surprised though, just disappointed. I'd hoped for a community of intelligent Christians, unfortunately I forgot it takes very little brain power to operate your internet browser.

I'm beginning to understand why the world views us as uneducated, superstitious red necks.

Am I in the minority of Christians? I have no Christian friends. I just hope that people like this are the vocal minority. If anyone, atheist or otherwise would like to speak with me message me.. I probably wont be involved with the majority of public threads anymore though.

As for someone who aspires to be an army chaplain I am a bit surprised by your comments. Even though I may not always agree with some of the postions presented many are indeed supported by Christian academia as well.

Maybe the problem that you are facing is that you do not seem to have any Christian friends which means that you are probably not in fellowship and as a result you would be missing out on some good teaching.

On another thread I raised some issues that were presented by Schopenhauer, Nietzche and even Wagner and as there was someone on that thread who was certainly far more knowledgable than me with these philosophers, I am hoping that he will interact with me and push me way beyond my own level of knowledge - if you want deep then these humanist philosophers will certainly give you deep.

One of my own frustrations is that as someone who has a broad experience in the Body of Christ that I can find some topics a bit light but there are many times where I can still learn from others. If nothing else such a site as this can allow us to improve our own communication skills - and dare I say even listening skills.

When it comes to evolutionary theory, even though I am pushing my own position, I am firmly convinced that it on the back burner as even many non-Christians are beginning to move over to Intelligent Design so I wouldn't be too concerned with this. For many years the evolutionist position has relied not so much on empiracle evidence but more with the philosophical argument for evolution which can be a far stronger and insidious weapon.

You might want to try some of the other forums which directly deal with specific areas of Theology or simply by some good books by well known academics.

No I'm not an evolutionist. I'm a creationist.. How God created us on the other hand, I have no idea and I'm willing to wait until I get to heaven to find out.. I'm not going to battle it out online that evolution is a lie only to get to heaven and have God tell me that's how he pulled it off.

I guess my main concern is the closed mindedness in the community at large here.. There's so much fire and brimstone preaching here that it really turns me off this place. My experience with God is a positive one and the majority of threads in this place are hateful and negative and it's bumming me out.

In no way is my faith wavering.. I guess I'm just disappointed in closed mindedness and outright ignorance that I see here. A lot of people here seem to want to stuff there fingers in there ears and yell "I'm right! I'm not listening to you! I'm not listening to you!" instead of present intelligent argument or have friendly debate.

Yeh I know how you feel it seems we have very rigid &narrow minds here on aussie on cc. Especially this section even the americans are more open minded!
They strangley seem to think they are not fundies yet their rigidity and narrow minds seems make of up for that whether bible literalists or not!

They are so narrow minded they would now like to resort to either ignoring me completely biblicist or ad hominem attacks Dag because they lack the ability and brain power to state their case without resorting to ad hominem attacks.

Sad in so much as you cant take God at his word, sad that somebody that is supposedly going in to ministry is going in to ministry with the compromised word of God.
Sad somebody who proclaims we should quote scripture, hasnt the courage in their own God to quote scripture and know without a shadow doubt its a fact.

Strangely I am a little disappointed in Christians who are not prepared to stand and fight for the truth, who roll over to the faiths and beliefs that are Idol worship. The science that they teach or children is idol worship, its not science its evidence less faith.

Beliefs that are man centred and created, beliefs that teach science is more valid than Gods word.

This is worse than a war, bodys dont pile up like on a battlefield, they are souls that go to Hell, thats biblical.

I will mention a name that makes atheist evolutionists scream and rant and the spirits exude hate. A mere man who talks about creation. I will happily send you free his DVDs.
Watch as the evolutionists reply with their bile and rantings against Kent Hovind. This man stopped Dawkins debating evolution in public.
Kent Hovind stands on Gods word, he may have his faults, but he knows the science of creationism.

Isn't this usually because we don't issue death threats against those who oppose us - we make ourselves an easy target for those that want to condemn us. Remember, not one Christian out there on this planet is perfect and all of us should know this basic fact!

I think that many of us feel the same way at times and even we who feel this way can sometimes be prone to committing the same offence.

There are times when we need to remind ourselves, that even though this is a Christian forum, that we all enter with various degrees of experience in the Word and with various levels of maturity. It can also be hard to simply place our thoughts in a clear and succinct manner as it can take a bit of skill to be able to correctly convey what we want to say and of course how long can a post become.

As a Creationist I feel a bit guilty for not entering into the discussions regarding the opposing views of evolution and intelligent design, though ID does have some parallels with Creationism but it can go off on different tangents; if it were a discussion purely amongst sincere Christians then such discussions could be both interesting and beneficial but as they are not I have decided to simply avoid them.

I do feel for those who are on this forum who have not had the opportunity to maybe sit under experienced teachers of the Word and/or that they have not been shown how to study Gods Word in the first place. To enter onto a public forum where many comments are not backed up with solid evidence can be difficult but such is the creature that we communicate on.
