Disable Countdown Java Applets - now working!

You can disable CF Countdown Java Applets in your Control Panel, Options, Thread Display.

This is useful for some browsers which have trouble displaying these applets.

thanks.... but it still doesn't work for me, Dr. Loh. It's been disabled since the feature was first added a long time ago and countdowns still show up... I'm using firefox, btw.

Can you see this? Because I can't with the Option set to No.

Mmm... it doesn't show it but then the post gets parsed and saved... but sigs should stop showing it though...

There you go - in the post originally it would not show, but after a few people see it, it will show because the post gets parsed and saved. The sig is not showing at the moment but once it's parsed it'll show again... let me test...

I'm using firefox too. I've set it to No and I can see the countdown in your post Erwin, but in TestErwin's sig I can only see the code...no countdown.

It's very weird - the software caches the post.

I'll leave it as it is and see what happens. Old posts may still show the code, but new posts may not.

I think signatures when this was not turned on will show, but once you turn it on it will stop showing - the code for this was missing for at least 6 months as I couldn't work it out until recently.

this is odd... I can see the code only in the testErwin signature.... but I see the countdowns in other sigs...

this screen shot was taken a few minutes ago, after going to my options and turning java applets on and then off again.


and I am wondering if these applets are what's causing my browser to freeze up multiple times in the past twp-three days. I have to restart my browser often when reading this site... quite disheartening. new problem.
