  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How often does a church have a dance party? o_O Or any Christian dance?

For the last 2 years my church has started putting on a prom for anyone who wants to come. Pretty impressive turn outs too. The house band plays and entire families show up to have fun, it's pretty rockin :)

Anything that causes us to sin, we should cut off. Nothing should hold us back in our walk with God. In reply to various of the people who say that Dirty Dancing is bad, I believe it is.

One - if you're speaking from a girls point of view - your mind/body does not operate the same as us guy's mind does. We get our sexual stimulation from actions done by others, pictures etc.

Two - If you say that the partner does not get stimulated, how are you to know that he is not lying and just enjoying the experience? I know I have lied many times to say that things were not turning me on and they were, so I kept doing whatever was causing me to sin. Knowing my experience with doing the wrong thing in this manner - it's direct contact with a person in those areas that causes a guy to be stimulated. How can this be ok?

When one gets married - fine. Roll on those days :)

Hi Gareth, was just agreeing with your post and then realised you're the same guy I have been chatting to on another thread!

I do absolutely agree with you. Put it this way - if the dancing generates any degree of sexual arousal and the two people are not married, this is clearly not right. Maybe some people can 'dirty dance' and not feel even a twinge of sexual excitement, but I can't help that this sort of person would be in the minority; it is called dirty dancing for a reason! I had a couple of unfortunate experiences with this at university when I was not yet a believer and was slightly worse for wear with drink.... and looking back even though I denied it at the time, part of me did enjoy it. I was sexually aroused by it as it involved 'clothed' genital contact. I would not dream of doing it now - largely because i am getting married next year (!), but even if I were now single, as a follower of Jesus, I would not be doing any of this stuff! If your right hand causes you to sin and all of that......
