Some say dinosaurs went extinct. Do you agree?
No - birds are descended from dinosaurs, and thus are dinosaurs themselves, just the descendants of ancient mammals are themselves mammals. Since your poll doesn't have a 'yes' option, had I agree with you, I would have voted 'other'. Ironic, since you've lampooned polls before for being terrible.

Not quite what I had in mind - technically, it's less accurate than this monstrosity:
Isn't that what Darwin believed?

Else why this caricature of him?

To ridicule him and his ideas.
And just by coincidence, they picked an ape?

And just by coincidence, it was called the Scope's Monkey Trial?

The caricatures used monkeys and apes because the controversial side of Darwin's ideas was the part about monkeys and apes. That hardly means the caricatures are right.

They're caricatures. That means they're not real. They're a deliberately warped picture of some thing, not an accurate representation of the thing itself. As for the caricature of Darwin, it was made to identify Darwin with evolution in the public eye - he had grown a beard and become fatigued due to illness, making him somewhat unrecognisable. Thus, this caricature of Darwin as a sort of chimera was used to reacquaint the public with Darwin's new visage.

Do you honestly believe that it's an accurate representation of Darwin's beliefs and theories?

And those ape → man porno charts that showed up in science classes?

They were just put there to mock Darwin, were they?

Are you referring to this? -

ape-man-evolution-larger.jpg

Since it wasn't made for sexual arousal, it isn't a pornographic image - any sexual titillation you're getting from it is entirely unintentional.

It doesn't depict "ape → man" - it depicts a rough visual guide of the ancestral species of man in chronological order. It isn't "ape → man", because all of the individuals depicted are apes. It's "ancient ape → modern ape", following one particular lineage of species, to the exclusion of all the other branches along that path.

Notice that none of those individuals are caricatures or chimeras - they're all genuine creatures. No chimp heads on human bodies, or vice versa. Each individual is a genuine example of what the evidence demonstrates exists, or existed. None are caricatures.

EDIT: Yes, yes, you're not an ape, you're an ape (or a human?) with sin nature...

Evolution nowadays stops just short at saying we came from apes, eh?

According to Kyoto University researchers, the Nakalipithecus species is very close to the last common ancestor of gorillas, chimpanzees, and humans.
