In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here is what I dug up:

Question: "What does the Bible say about dragons?"

Answer: The Bible mentions a dragon in Revelation chapters 12, 13, 16, and 20. Revelation 20:2 identifies the dragon, “He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.” The Bible is not teaching that dragons ever truly existed. Rather, it is only comparing Satan to a mythological fire-breathing monster.

That is the only time that Dragon is mentioned and it doesnt mean that they existed.

Here is something I found on unicorns.

Unicorns

gbarms.jpg
Unicorn is used to translate the Hebrew word meaning some species of wild bull - a powerful, not easily tamed creature:

"the strength of an unicorn." (Numbers 23:22 KJV) "Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib? Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee? Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?" (Job 39:9-11 KJV)

King David used horn and unicorn as an analogy of the power given to him by God:

"But thou, Lord, art most high for evermore. For, lo, thine enemies, O Lord, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me." (Psalm 92:8-11 KJV)

In both Bible History and Prophecy, the single "horn" (tribe) of Joseph existed, and exists, as two independent tribes:

"And of Joseph he said, Blessed of The Lord be his land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath, And for the precious fruits brought forth by the sun, and for the precious things put forth by the moon, And for the chief things of the ancient mountains, and for the precious things of the lasting hills, And for the precious things of the earth and fulness thereof, and for the good will of him that dwelt in the bush: let the blessing come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren. His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh." (Deuteronomy 33:13-17 KJV)

Here it is,

Deuteronomy 33:17

His glory is like the firstlings of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim and they are the thousands of Manasseh.

but,

your right about the wild bull thing, i found the same.

Strange that the word unicorn would even be considered for use in holy scripture, and while i'm thinking about it, i've decided to ask some Jews for the Torah translation.

however, the fact remains that these words are used in the holy bible.

is the bible gods word? i can't be sure - other than 'Jesus says so' (as someone from every religion on the face of the planet says about their faith)
You sound like an intelligent guy, and Im wondering how you came to the conclusion that Darwinism is false? (Im agreeing with you, just curious :))

From these forums i have found that christianity is more of a personal relationship with god than a 'religion', which is very good, because i do not think a creator of all men would endorse a heirachy system (like most other religions). If god spoke to me, i would believe. if something happened which prooved it to me in my heart then i would believe. I'm searching, yet although everyone says 'god will find you' he hasnt so far. why doesn't he straight away? why does it take time? he's infinite and ultimate he should be able to help me
I cant answer your questions, but I thought you might want to hear this:

Taken from: sc's thought for the day

How do you view Jesus Christ's crucifixion? Do you view it as something nice that happened? Something that G-d did to show His love for us? But how does that show His love for us? How is sending someone's son to the cross for no reason an expression of love and something "nice"?

Lets take a look in the Bible (gotta love that book ;)) for the answer.

Colossians 1:13-14

13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

You say to yourself, sure. I know he died for our sins, and that we are forgiven. But I ask you how? I will answer my own question here as I refuse to wait for a couple hours until someone answers me :p

Take a peek at the 2 verses above.
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love

What does this mean? This is what you all (should) know. That He has delivered us from the power of darkness (sin) and conveyed (now, I didnt know the meaning of this either, but this word means to "make known;pass on, of information") to us the kingdom of the Son (Jesus, G-d in His "human form") of His (G-d's) love. So, I assume everyone knows that. That He somehow delivered us. Now take a looksie at the next verese:
14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
What does that mean? We are redeemed through His blood! To get a better picture and understanding of this, lets check out

Colossians 3:1-5

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of G-d. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in G-d. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you will appear with Him in glory.

This is sooo beautiful! When Christ died for our sins, he didnt die for it, but took them with him! Take the first verse:
If then you were raised with Christ
Whats that mean? How can I be raised with Christ? Didn't he die? Oh yes he did! But then remember: Christ rose again on the third day! So..what happened to our sins? Did they rise again? Yup! But (please notice Im putting this in perspective), when He rose up to His Father, our sins evaporated! So now, if you accepted Christ as your Savior, you actually let Him evaporate your sin! How does this look like right now? You're a brand new person! Your sins are nill, forgiven. You will not be condemned. You (your old self) has died with Christ on the cross and your new self has risen, so now you get to start on a brand new piece of paper that we so conveniently call life.

Lets take a peekieboo at

Colossians 3:8-11
But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, 11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.

Wow. We are instructed to stop lying, control our anger, stop blasphemy, stop all evil, and focus on HIM! Now that our old man has died, we have a brand new young dude (or dudett ;)) to teach the way of life, and we can teach him (or her) the GOOD stuff. Not the bad stuff. For Christ is all and in all.

But..now that we have this new dude (dudett) in ourself...now what? We're only teens, and we have a kid to teach! Don't worry my brothers and sisters! Take a looksie at at

Colossians 3:12-17
12 Therefore, as the elect of G-d, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of G-d rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spirtual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the L-rd. 17 And whateer you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the L-rd Jesus, giving thanks to G-d the Father through Him.

There you have it, plain and simple. Lets teach our new self mercy, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering, forgiveness just like Christ forgave us for OUR sins. But above ALL this, love. Verse 14 says that love is the bond of perfection, our road to holiness. If you love everyone, including your enemies, pet dog, fish, cat, brother, sister, parents, friends, you will automatically have humility, kindness, meekness, mercy, longsuffering, forgiveness. Sing praise to the L-rd for He is good and our G-d! Say a prayer right now, this minute asking G-d to forgive you. No matter what you did, He will. You just have to let Christ take your sin up on the cross!

Always remember this my brothers and sisters, always. :prayer:

G-d bless,
sc
Edit. I put some colors in, because even I know how hard it is to read such a long post, with no colors. ;-)

G-d bless,

Anti Existance said:
Well the angel Alcar (from an near death experience) said to a person who asked him the question ' what about Adam and Eve? ' that Genesis never happend, but was a story only used to explain God in a methaphorical way to the people.
It has been shown medically that people with "near death experiences" (or anyone, for that matter) hallucinate when their brains are deprived of oxygen. They feel out of their bodies, in a semi-lucid state, etc. Accepting doctrine from a person whose brain was deprived of oxygen at the time of a 'revelation' is hardly grounds for building theology off of.

Dinosaurs were extinct long before any form of human being came into existance.
Did you come to this conclusion yourself, or did someone else give it to you? The Bible speaks of what can only be a dinosaur, and also another thing that seems to be a dragon.

Jacques Cousteau did a series of searches for Atlantis, and found some interesting underwater formations...not verified as man-made at the time.

The references to Leviathin and Behemoth are in Job 40-41, and they are fascinating, full-page descriptions. Behemoth fits a hippo well, but Leviathin has interlocking scales that can't be pierced. Ironically, these descriptions come during a reprimand from God on "You think you know so much."

About your original question... If you look at the artwork of various cultures, you will find many depictions of reptilian creatures, varying in size from a few feet to dragon-sized creatures. Some had four legs, some had none. A few different head shapes were mentioned. We pass these off as fables or myth, but they are recorded in nearly every culture.

The stories are there as well, documenting experiences of running across these creatures suddenly--as recently as the settlers of North America. Because we think we are so high and intellectual, we have nearly scoffed these stories out of existence.

About bones, that's another matter. Some stories record burning the creatures. There also might have been something acidic or volatile in their chemical composition that promoted a different rate of decay. Sea creatures might have migrated to warmer spots like lava cracks like the stories of elephants finding a common final destination. Just a long shot theory.

You can find some of this information in library books on dragons and mythical creatures. Some of the web info is iffy, some is intriguing. (I researched the subject for a book.) I found a funny newspaper clip about five years ago from Japan, showing a giant fleshy dragon carcass hoisted out of the sea. Who knows. I'm guessing that if someone found remains these days, they would get the same respect as they would with alien implants.

Having proved in my mind through a study of Christian Evidences that the Bible is without error, literal interpretation makes great sense to me, except where the Bible is clearly using figures of speech (such as "the mountains skipping for joy").

For a study of the co-existence of dinosaurs and humans, google Glenrose dinosaur and click on The Great Dinosaur Mistake. Human footprint on top of dinosaur footprint. Fascinating.

Stop right there. It isn't without scientific error. For example I believe Deuteronomy 14:7 says that hares (rabbits) chew cud, which is false. Hares have only one stomache, and don't regurgitate their food.
