  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Dinosaurs would still be here.

I answered that wrong.

Why would they go out and look, when they're already convinced the Flood was global?
They did go out and look. Dr Andrew Snelling and many other of his counterparts are still out doing research.. it never ends..

No one wanted to go out and look again with updated and more sophisticated instruments?

Or, as I suspect, did they stamp DID NOT HAPPEN on it and forgot about it?
Those first geologist worked under the Biblical belief of a global flood. The looked and looked but could find no evidence of said flood.

From the Siletzia terrane.
So basically from the Earth.

Here's a Wiki:
Siletzia - Wikipedia

If wanted, I could provide more detailed papers on the serious terrines here in the Pacific Northwest. But I thought a simple Wiki page would be a start.

Okay.

My question is:

Why have they stopped looking, if indeed they have?
When the entire Earth shows no sign of a Global Flood, why keep looking? At some point they have to admit that to do so is a complete waste of time and they move on to the geology that the Earth is actually showing of itSelf.

taken from Biologos webpage.. should i read that to see what it says?
No, it's from a university website and I think they got the image from the NPS.

Do you believe all the strata in the image I posted were laid down by the flood?

many of them have.. why do you think those of us who have seen it have changed our views.

they did not just come up0 with their ideas. and we did nto just blindly agree with them and change our views.
Who? Where can I read their results?

Because one would think if it could be scientifically supported it would be a boon to ministry.

Leaving things as they are just maintains the status quo, where science moved on from the global flood 200 years ago and the only people who still cling to it are mostly from specific American Protestant denominations. IOW, it'll remain a sectarian religious belief.

Again, that's for the handful of people who still believe it literally to do. Everyone else moved on centuries ago.

Well one says they quit 200 years ago, and another says they're out there right now looking.

Looks like the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

If they want to "boon their ministry," why don't they look for scientific evidence of the Resurrection?

Other than an empty tomb, I'm sure they can find SOMETHING to hunt for.

I'm getting the impression that no one knows what science is doing re looking for evidence of the Flood.

Again, that's for the handful of people who still believe it literally to do. Everyone else moved on centuries ago.

So I'm right then?

They stamped DID NOT HAPPEN and have now forgotten about it?

Science works with objectivity in research and not with religious beliefs.

How does the saying go? “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. If geologist keep looking for something that doesn't exist, at which point does it become insanity to keep doing so?

If we agree that there's no geological evidence for the flood, that's good.

Yeah, for the same reason scientists aren't looking for evidence that the sun orbits the earth. It's settled unless someone comes up with some significant new data.

[Andrew Snelling holds a Ph D in geology from the University of Sydney, Australia.
That makes him a college graduate, not a scientist. If after I got my degrees in biology I went and worked as a truck driver, I can't say I'm a scientist.

Snelling works for AiG, which is a self-described apologetics ministry (not a scientific institution) that has all their employees agree to work under an anti-scientific framework. Therefore he's not a scientist.

sorry, I do not get my science data from wikepedia.

However, I see they are using radiometric data to determine the age.

I would not trust this to determine how old something was.

most people stop looking because they are afraid to find the answers they find may be against what they believe
