  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

There are still some Dinosaurs around.

The large ones have been gone since after the flood.

mainly underwater ones(like Loch Ness) and possibly a few roaming around in a large mostly unexplored jungle in central Africa

go to www.drdino.com

It is a theory that dinos existed. And, it is a theory that I agree makes sense and is quite plausible. But, based on scientific method, it is not a fact.

I believe in intelligent design. I believe God created the Earth. Who is to say He did not create an Earth with dino bones in it? It's as likely a theory as the one that dinos actually existed.

It is just as likely that fake dinosaur bones were planted for unknown reasons by a deity than that the bones actually belonged to real dinosaurs?

Now THAT is intellectual rigour! LOL!

Hector dear...Do you have anger management issues? You really need to calm down. Evolution is not going to lead anyone down the dark road to Hell. No matter how many times you gleefully proclaim it.

Your previous post was a ridiculous, childish tirade. If you want to play with the big boys you better learn to keep your temper.
You are an adult. Act like one.

Annabel Lee,

I apriciate you for looking out for me as I will admit that I DO live with a temper that I have to work to control.

But I fight evolution because it tends to destroy peoples faiths and I clearly is satted in the bible if you don't believe in God and if you don't accept Jesus Christ as your savior you will have to pay for you sins and the wages for sin is death. If you are not saved you go to hell if you are saved you get the gift of etrnal life.this is stated in John,Ezekiel,Matthew and others I believe.

Theistic evolutionists sometimes tend to lean towards one side and sometimes that side is total evolution.
Plus they are calling Lord Jesus Christ a liar!
Most of them don't know this

This is why I fight.

In Christ,

Hector

Give you a hint here, Hector: When it comes to witnessing to people, it's pretty important that you take the time to understand their point of view.

More than that, it means you need to take the time to truly understand evolution, if you're going to argue against it and proclaim it wrong.

Because, you see, when you come here and proclaim it's full of lies, and then support this with ludicrous arguments, shabby strawmen, and links to the biggest snake-oil and hate salesmen on the net (Hovind and Chick, respectively), you're going to drive people away from God.

Because, and I'll be honest with you on this, when you talk about how evolution is wrong, and then give reasons that are the biggest pile of ignorant, uneducated, unlearned, poorly-thought out tripe, swallowed whole from idiots like Chick, it makes me certain that Christianity, at least your portion of it, is utterly false.

Why? Because you think you know something about how the world works. You proclaim that the Bible, and your religion, tells you this. And when you talk about how the world works, and are utterly wrong, that makes the Bible look wrong.

Take evolution. You haven't bothered to learn anything about it. You're using arguments (I use the term arguments loosely here) that are so discredited that most people who share your beliefs stopped using them. They're that bad. You use people like Jack Chick, who is considered one of the biggest nuts on the net (have you even read his stuff on Catholocism?), and Hovind who is almost as bad.

You haven't made one cogent argument against evolution. Not one. Why not sit down and take the time to think about it? Marshal your thoughts, make sure evolution really says what you think it says before you start? And most of all, take a few minutes to make sure your arguments are sound, okay?

As a helpful hint, I'd suggest checking anything you get against Answers in Genesis (a literal, young earth Creationist site). They have a list of "Arguments Creationists Shouldn't Use" because they're so blatantly wrong. I think you'll recognize some on the list.

Usually, even a non-Christian knows something about the earth, the heavens, and the other elements of this world, about the motion and orbit of the stars and even their size and relative positions, about the predictable eclipses of the sun and moon, the cycles of the years and the seasons, about the kinds of animals, shrubs, stones, and so forth, and this knowledge he hold to as being certain from reason and experience. Now, it is a disgraceful and dangerous thing for an infidel to hear a Christian, presumably giving the meaning of Holy Scripture, talking nonsense on these topics; and we should take all means to prevent such an embarrassing situation, in which people show up vast ignorance in a Christian and laugh it to scorn. The shame is not so much that an ignorant individual is derided, but that people outside the household of faith think our sacred writers held such opinions, and, to the great loss of those for whose salvation we toil, the writers of our Scripture are criticized and rejected as unlearned men. If they find a Christian mistaken in a field which they themselves know well and hear him maintaining his foolish opinions about our books, how are they going to believe those books in matters concerning the resurrection of the dead, the hope of eternal life, and the kingdom of heaven, when they think their pages are full of falsehoods and on facts which they themselves have learnt from experience and the light of reason? Reckless and incompetent expounders of Holy Scripture bring untold trouble and sorrow on their wiser brethren when they are caught in one of their mischievous false opinions and are taken to task by those who are not bound by the authority of our sacred books. For then, to defend their utterly foolish and obviously untrue statements, they will try to call upon Holy Scripture for proof and even recite from memory many passages which they think support their position, although they understand neither what they say nor the things about which they make assertion. - Augustine of Hippo

It is my sincere hope that Saint Augustine will not resent my borrowing of his exceptional wisdom.

Thank you, seebs, for one of the best and most coherent statements I have read on this topic. If you happen to have the citation for that passage, I would appreciate your sharing it--since I would like to get a copy of it. Again, thank you. And Morat, thank you for sharing your perspective of why poorly conceived arguments by some Christians may severely hamper Christian witness to the world--even by other Christians who do not use such arguments.

I just want to comment that just because a person is misguided and willfully ignorant on a scientific subject and its imagined relationship to a particular religion's holy book, I do not think this casts a bad light on the theology they promote, just their interpretation of it.

People are uneducated on many subjects and some are also extremely rigid and dogmatic. Because they happen to be Christians does not make me *more* doubtful of Christianity.

There are idiots and brilliant minds on both sides of the issue.
