  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Now, if you doubt the reality of leviathan, explain behemoth. (note, alligators, crocks, hippos, etc. do not have tails like a cedar or drink up the Jordan river.) Unless, God was lying, then behemoth was around with Job.

Job 40

15Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
16Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
17He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
18His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.
19He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.
20Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
21He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
22The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
23Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth. 24He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.

In this case, if it was a metaphor,(which I am not saying it isn't. Its hard to come up with an animal that has ANYTHING that big) is God really one to exaggerate THAT much? Or consider anything majestic for how huge its... aherm... is? Maybe if it were a Greek god... I mean, seriously. I don't care how well endowed hippos are. Thats FAR from being comparable to a cedar tree.

It is fascinating to research the dinos, some of which indeed had tails comparable to cedar trees of average size.

Don't think for a moment that the scriptural description of what would have to be the largest dino around given the word "behemoth", is in error in the slightest.

And... only one who has an agenda which includes dissing the Word of God would relegate "tail" to an "ahem"!

Shalom... WAB

p.s. don't think God exaggerates in the slightest, and although we often think of the largest cedar trees we have ever seen, or seen pictures of, there are groves in many places where the average size of the cedars are approximately the size of the largest dino tails. As a matter of fact, we had a number of such in a place we lived at in WA state.

Ever heard of the word "metaphore?"

In addition, "tail" is a well-known Hebrew euphamism of a certain male appendage.

Not that I'm aware of....

Got the interpretation from a rabbinical source for that assertion?

NO, This is true science. Evolution is a lie from the pit.and genesis is the word of god.
Does saying so make it so?

Do you also believe in the "true science" of unicorns? After all, they're in the Bible. Are there any creation scientists out there on an expedition looking for unicorns?
