  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have recently discovered how much I enjoy cooking for others, especially in large groups.

The past three years I have held a Christmas dinner for all the single people at our church evening service... and this year it was big with twenty people coming and three large roasts.

Through this I have decided next year to being a new dinner ministry and cook dinner for people to sit and enjoy together after each evening service as a way of encouraging people to develop better relationships and enjoy fellowship time together.

I am sure it will be challenging... Do any of you currently run a program like this?

Or do any of you have fantastic One-Pot recipes?

I would be grateful for feedback.

That's an awesome idea. For some of our meetings for our college ministry we would have meals, but it wasn't exactly like this. Also, I went to a church that serves nice meals to the homeless on Thursday nights, which is really awesome, but that's not like this really either. However, this is a great idea, and I think more churches/people should do it, especially for college kids, because we always love free food!!

that's great unquenchable. Good thing you can cook because for us, though we have our own christmas special meet the past few years at a friend's house, we don't really have someone cooking. Most of the time it's potluck or something from pizza hut. 2 years back we had the turkey with us. :)
