Dilemma...

My husband and I just discovered that we are pregnant, and we're thrilled.

We just moved to a new state two months ago. I interviewed for a position in town, and was offered a job. They're in the midst of doing a background check. Four days ago, my husband and I found out that we're expecting. I'm unsure of what to do regarding the job offer. Since they're still doing the background check, I haven't officially been hired yet. They'll have me sign an employment contract as soon as the background check is complete. I'm worried that if I tell them that I'm pregnant, that they may not hire me (even though it's illegal). I also feel that keeping this information from them is dishonest.

Does anyone have any advice?

You should just be honost with them because they are going to find out eventually anyway, and withholding information is kind of a lie and lying is a sin.

first off Congrats Susan. Second, I would wait until after your first OB appointment to really tell anyone.

I wouldn't mention unless you plan on not going back to work after your pregnancy. Witholding your pregnancy is not considered "lying" any more than not telling them you were married would be, especially if it really doesn't impact the job situation much. Now if you plan on only having the job until the baby comes - that's another story.

Thanks everyone. I ended up telling my boss, and he congratulated me, and in short, said that of course he still wanted to hire me.
