  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Digital Cameras - Lens kits

I have a Minoltal Dimage7i and I bought a 2X teleconverter-it does cause some amount of vignetting if not fully zoomed and I had to by an adapter ring. Barring that I have gotten some terrific photos with it that I couldn't have gotten without it like the one I'm posting. Besides that I have a circular polarizer and a couple other filters and a set of close-up lenses for macros that work well. I will post an image taken with the close-up lenses (+4, +2, +1) also.

I had a few lens adapters and converters with my G2... generally there is a little loss of quality, and light, when using teleconverters to increase your zoom, but that can be outweighed by the gains at the telephoto end... Be aware that you really will get what you pay for with a teleconverter... cheap products are pretty much always optically inferior, so you loose a lot more than you gain... name brand converters are usually pretty good, and the Olympus OLY B300 is recognised as one of the best around...

Close up filters are definitely the go for macro... with a compact digital, you're only using a small section of the centre of the diopter, which is where they are at their best... a +10 filter is an excellent investment, as are the kits as you can stack them to increase the magnification... stick with Hoya or Tiffen to get a good brand...

If you want the best close up shots, look into reversing an old 50mm manual lens onto your lens adapter... the cost is minimal and the magnification is huge...

Peace be with you...
