Differences

Hello everyone!

I'm new here, but I've always had one pressing question: What are the differences between Presbyterians and Baptists?

Just a bit of background: I was baptized and was a Methodist until age 13, have been a Presbyterian since 2001, and occasionally attend a Baptist church these days. Until I was old enough, I just went along with what my folks say... now I'm looking for my own church community, that may or may not be what my parents have introduced me to.

But I never really think about differences, I think our core doctrine is different. If you look at each section and look at the statement of faith. It will probably show the differents.

Read the statements of faith at the top of each forum and you'll see.
The differences aren't huge.

I attended a Baptist church several years ago before I became Lutheran. That particular Baptist church taught reformed theology, and was very similar to Presbyterians with the exception of baptism.

Not every Baptist church has the same theology, however.

Baptists don't baptize babies because we understand baptism is a symbol of salvation. Presbyterians think baptism is the new circumcision so they baptize babies. Also, I believe Presbyterians tend to be amillennialists where as many Baptists are Pretrib, Midtrib or Postrib.
