  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My dad was born in Oklahoma and he says dungarees instead of jeans....:D

I don't remember my dad saying dungarees, but then, he never wore jeans. Didn't like the way they fit. But, his twin wore them all the time. AS for Okie dialect, I have noticed that most Okies, (my kinfolk, anyway) talk reeeaaalll sssllooww!!! Except my cousins wife, and she talks reallyreallyfast!!

LOL, grammy! :D

And thanks for the explanation of the difference between "creek" and "crick," FJD. I thought a "crick" was what all y'all who "carry" things get in your backs. :p ^_^

I'll call it a crick, whether it has water in it or not!^_^ But the one that runs behind my house is called a bayou! Not quite sure what the difference is, though!

Well, I don't have any gators in my pond, but I do have a pretty big snapping turtle. He usually only comes around when we're fishing the brim in there, tho. I think he must think we're rounding up dinner for him. LOL

He probably does!:p

I forgot this one I read a lot in Louis L'Amour books: "oncet." From what I can tell, it's pronounced like "wonst," and is used instead of "once" in rural areas of Kentucky and Tennessee. This has slipped into my speech, but very rarely. It's kind of funny, what with the midwestern accent I have, using this word and other southern-ism (like y'all): people git right confused. ^_^
