  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

i'm needing to kick up my diet and find that i may need an appetite suppressent. Has anyone tried any or have any suggestions? I have seen many advertised on tv; like relicore and cortislim, don't know what to choose. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

From what I've heard, most are a waste of money. You could try checking the Buyer Beware forum at http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/ . They seem to have quite a bit of information from people who've tried a lot of products.

Do you work out regularly? Exercise is great for regulating the appetite. I don't know if it's psychological or if there's a physical reason, but I can't stick to a healthy eating pattern unless I'm working out. If you're working out and eating right (and please be aware that eating too few calories can also keep you from losing weight, contradictory as that sounds) and still not losing weight, then you should probably see a doctor just to make sure everything's OK.

I would steer clear of appetite suppressants. Trying to trick your body into believing it isn't hungry doesn't work. Your body is a complex system, it knows what it needs despite what you try and tell it. I would suggest making healthy permanent dietary changes and adopting an "active lifestyle." Diet's are for temporary changes, not permanent ones. If you want temporary quick fixes there are metabolism boasters available but there are side effects ... the least of which is increased hunger.

i have been working out on a daily basis and have been on a 1400 calorie diet as per my doctor's suggestion. I have just not been able to lose any more weight and i am far from my goal. I have diabetes and have been told that may be the cause of my problem but my doc. seems to think all the changes should do the trick. i'm just wondering what more i can do.

Thanks for the advice and i had no idea that eating too few calories would have a negative effect...there in could also be a problem since most days i don't make it to 1400.

Seems to go against intuition, doesn't it? The way it works is, if you eat too few calories, your body assumes there must be a famine going on or something. So your body actually starts conserving its fat deposits, on the assumption that you're going to need them. I'm not a doctor and I don't know anything about diabetes, but when I drop below about 1500 cals/day myself, I can't lose weight, either. If you're not eating as much as your doctor wants you to, maybe that's part of the problem.

Starving yourself will actually make you gain weight FASTER, ironically enough.

But as far as diet pills go, dont even bother. Half of them are glorified vitamin pills and the other half just plain dont work.
