It was a German resistance movement that for a brief moment rose against Hitler. It speaks to the courage of young students who rose up against the status quo of their time...yes they were executed by beheading, which is an interesting parallel to a recent historical event we've been discussing. What is significant is that most people are not aware of any German resistance, and indeed there was not a lot...as is typical in a totalitarian system. For me they were heroes.

There were quite a few resisters, in and out of the armed forces. The scholls were interesting because they actually put up posters and handed out leaflets. The German nation never revolted under Hitler, but he did not have the support of all the people by all means.
