• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I used to have it real bad, I went to my church and went for prayer healing and low and behold, this is one of the things that God healed me of. I cant say I am entirely happy about it, it was a wonderful coping mechanism, I miss it greatly, I cant turn off and "go away in my head" like I could when ever I want to anymore when things get tough or a situation arises that I dont want to be in. I never had it where I had memory lose, I guess Im fortunate for that, I dont know. I now had to relearn how to deal with every and any situation that came my way, and let me tell you for the first year or so, it was VERY hard, becasue I couldnt escape. But its just not how God created us to function.

Yes, I was in healing counseling, and the T had to move. NOT many people understand this.
I'm sorry about your losing such an important support person in your life. Do you have ideas about how to go about looking for a new counselor? How are you coping with the transition?

I am not an expert but I believe that the psychiatric community is revamping the whole concept of DID and that therapies have been crafted to support various individual personalities within the individual. Also the connection to extreme trauma as an underpinning to the disorder is being re-evaluated. Is this true?

is there anyone else that has this? Used to be MPD..I just wonder where people are in thier journey with this.
My alters are healed and integrated and now am ministering to others with the same.

Took me about 18 years of growing in the Lord and renewing my mind to the Word of God.

However, I wouldn't have traded a moment of it. Thoughout the journey have totally found the Lord in it all and my alters total and complete love and acceptance by God. After all, the alters are all you, just different aspects of you.

He knows where each piece of the puzzle of your soul fits together.

His timing is perfect for all facets of yourself to come together in healing, forgiveness and acceptance.

They will be revamping it until Jesus comes back because they have no clue how it works.

When you tell an alter personality, go away, I don't want to talk to you then what you are saying to the entire being is, you are not important enough to listen to.

They will just be thwarting their own practice and never get to the root issues of each facet of the person.

They are facets, true, but still individuals as THEIR WORLD is perceived. If you dis the alter the core personality will never heal.

They all must become important to the overall healing process which will strengthen and enable the core to choose NOT to disassocate from life whenever problems arise.

You have to remember that the others are there to help the main personality cope with life's stresses. It is about weaning them off the alters and onto Jesus that should be the primary focus of any Christian counselor and the secular ones aren't worth a flip anyway. LOL!!

The reason people are told they have an illness is to get them to see there is no hope of a cure. For the person to admit they are sick rather than they have a special and creative way to cope in life, is to doom them to a life of brokenness and despair and potentially hospitalization and medication to make the OTHERS go away so they might be NORMAL, whatever that means.

Multiplicity is very misunderstood. It is NOT a chemical embalance or a mental disorder. It is a world created to keep one sane in the insane world they lived in. When the insanity stops, this is when they can come together and heal, without the need for disassociation anymore.

However, while you are going through it, the last thing a hurting, broken soul needs to hear is go away or go inside or I can't deal with you. In essence, you are telling the person you claim you desire to help, I don't accept you as all the vastness of your human personality.
