Did you take a foreign language in HS or College?

3 years of German, 2 of Spanish.

Remember some words and phrases, but tend to get my languages mixed!

I took French in high school.

I can't speak it or understand it when it's spoken, but I can read it to a certain extent.

4 years of German, one year of French and I've picked up enough Italian from studying opera to have been through at least a year or two of Italian courses.

I know a cop btw that speaks five or six languages fluently
English, Spanish, French, Russian, German, and Italian!

I took 2 years of both French and Spanish in high school. I also studied Latin for 1 year in college.

Latin was by far the most difficult.

I took 3 years in middle school and 2 years in high school. I would not be able to remember a thing, but I teach 4th grade and have to sit and listen to Madame teach my students. Otherwise, I do not think I would still be able to speak it.

I took 2 years of French in HS, but didn't really know anything about how to speak it, so I switched to German in college (because my roomate was a German major).

It seems that Spanish is the #1 foreign language study course of all time you know!

I have my minor in Spanish--studied for 3 months in Mexico while completing my undergraduate work. I've forgotten a ton of it because I've hardly used it since then.

i remember a few assorted words and phrases but other than that seems a total waste. sad but true.... if you don't use it .. you lose it.

No offense but Spanish is too fast for me!

Six years of French, and 10 years of English, plus 2 years English at University. Here English is mandatory from grades 3 to 9 (9 to 15 years of age). Grades 10-12 (which it's not really called here but anyway) are not mandatory but most people do them, and then you have to study at least one year of English depending on which programme and branch you choose. I think English is mandatory from grade 3 but I suspect it could vary a bit throughout the country.
