All religions are paths to reach God. They are — to make a comparison — like different languages, different dialects, to get there. But God is God for all If you start to fight saying 'my religion is more important than yours, mine is true and yours isn't', where will this lead us? There is only one God, and each of us has a language to arrive at God. Some are Sikh, Muslim, Hindu, Christians; they are different ways to God.
Which is in direct contradiction of the Lord's own words in John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

If no - why?

If yes - what should be done? Should he be censured or removed?

That man is their leader so I suppose there's nothing that we can do. Someone can try and share Christ with him but I don't figure it will help and I doubt they'd let anyone try.

We just have to keep speaking the truth about God to anyone who cares to listen. Those who are God's will hear.

All roads might lead to Rome, but they don't all lead to Christ.

There is a long history of popes through the ages who have done things that would make one think .."how were they able to get away with such atrocious behavior?" This particular pope doesn't fit into this category however, it is far worse. He does not recognized Jesus Christ of Nazareth as God in the Flesh. As far as being removed, the pope is the Vicar of Christ in Catholicism, considered to be Christ's representative on earth. Who would dare. Blessings.

Removed. And the office of "pope" abolished - this is what happens when an institution confers upon a mere man the moniker of the "Mouthpiece of God". And follow him around like a rock star. He should be teaching his flock how to follow and hear the Shephard instead.

Upon abolishing this office (and reworking the hierarchy according to Biblical standards - remember the Bible, folks?) this denomination should perform a thorough cleansing of idol worship, unbiblical practices such as penance and indulgences, praying to Mary and saints, and especially repentance from preaching the doctrine of salvation through works (a false gospel).

It's time for the universal Body of Christ to quit compromising and call a spade what it is, a spade.

Until this denomination repents, we pray for and admonish the genuine believers within this denomination to come out of her, stop compromising their devotion away from Scriptural Authority, and ask the Good Lord to lead them to a humble Bible-believing, Spirit-filled Church. ALL are welcome!

John 14:21-24 NIV

"Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him. "Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, "But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?" Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me."

God bless all with open eyes and open ears!

I would recommend to read the quote in context of the whole speech.

I think encouraging an attitude that does not bring about religious/ideological extremism to a mixed group of youths is a good thing.

much like with internet posts, I think the words are taken out of context and I am reminded that the way I judge others, is the same way I am judged, and that mercy triumphs over judgment. I shudder to think that every thing I've ever said be taken not only out of context but be the reason for indictment, being measured the same way I was measuring.

were you aware that even in the bible it says one must first believe that God is, and that he rewards those who diligently seek him? Thus all religions are a language that God can speak through, since believing that God is - is part of the process of coming to faith in Him.

Context does not change the meaning of "All religions are paths to reach God,"
which is a direct contradiction of Jn 14:6, "No one comes to the Father except through me."

Putting lipstick on that pig will not clean it up.

Though I was raised Protestant, with the typical aversion to Catholic exclusivity and excess with traditions, I'm not hostile to Catholics. I just find it necessary, in my conscience, to choose biblical theology over Catholic "authoritarianism," ie the belief that what they say is always "right."

This is a perfect example. Though this may be a "friendly" way to reach out to those raised in other religions, it waters down the truth. Christians don't have to be "hostile" in their disagreement with other religions. We can find some commonalities. But to preach the Gospel we must absolutely distinguish what makes our religion "Eternal Salvation" and what disqualifies as the means to Eternal Life.

Are we all in the world just trying to practice religion to be good citizens of the world, which is noble, or are we trying to find eternal reconciliation with our Maker, resulting in Eternal Life? I opt for the latter.

The Pope is skirting heretical ideas--whether it is blatant or not may be a question for what the Pope actually means? He needs to be asked in the most direct way, but I doubt that will happen with any public recognition.

He is too "protected." His statements are too "rationalized" in defense of Catholicism. Thanks for the bravery in even asking the question. It might make you a target for those wishing to tar all hard questions for Catholics as "anti-Catholic!"

Jesus is the way [to heaven, which was the subject under discussion] and the truth [about eternal life in the love of God] and the life [the life of God himself in you]. So, why can't a Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, know Jesus? Why can't every truth in Hinduism, Islam, or Sikhism be truth because it comes from God through Jesus?

answer yes, now what to do about it?

Rev 18:1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.

Rev 18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

Rev 18:3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Rev 18:5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

Rev 18:6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.

Rev 18:7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

Rev 18:8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

Rev 18:9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,

Rev 18:10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

Rev 18:11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

Rev 18:12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,

Rev 18:13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.

Rev 18:14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.

Rev 18:15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

Rev 18:16 And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!

Rev 18:17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,

Rev 18:18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!

Rev 18:19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

Rev 18:20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

Rev 18:21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

Rev 18:22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;

Rev 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

Rev 18:24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

-
Give an example were another religion teaches that Eternal Life is received by belief in Jesus, even Christianity barley teaches this.

Yes, how does that end?

"NO ONE comes to the Father but by me."

Not a single person in the Bible is said to have faith outside of belief in Hashem.

What the Pope said that day is a form of syncretism, a heresy and demonic teaching. One can only approach God through His Son, Jesus. No one else. Now later on, I can plug this into the artificial intelligence, but I gave my own opinion above, based on John 14:6. Of course, the AI would probably have a softer answer. I am a Catholic, so any Catholics here, please do nut judge me for calling out the Pope. But, 1 Timothy 5:20 allows us Christians to rebuke fellow Christians.

John 14:6 (NIV): "Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
1 Timothy 5:20 (ESV): "As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear."

I get the sense some people think that people are brought to faith through psychological persuasion and social coercion, the discussion in the thread is obscuring what God's role is in bringing someone to believe in Jesus Christ. (do you really need to guide them every step of the way? Usually, one person only sees one point in the journey)

While we are discussing heresy of a possible false gospel, bear in mind of what empties the cross of its power.

For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. (1 Corinthians 1:17)

The gospel is the power of God to all who believe, so rooting out false gospels is important. However, it is equally important to not rely on wisdom and eloquence to increase numbers.
