Genesis makes reference to the Watcher’s behavior and the forbidden things they taught. Other texts go into greater detail and you must determine their validity beforehand. Otherwise, you’re left with questions like these. Most of which is explained in the bible. They knowingly sinned and conspired to do so by leaving their rightful domain in the angelic to have relations with women. We are different species. Angels weren’t made in His image but man was. That is their crime. The additional infractions are the result of their compromise and darkened hearts.

We’re provided a recounting of creation for a reason. There are no references in that account to the image shown or its existence. Nor are centaurs made in the Lord’s image which settles the matter. To combine man and beast is abominable and the answer should be obvious. It’s a demonic act. One needn’t be a demon to do so per se. It’s the opposition to His order that makes it so.

As you contemplate the mythological you must determine whether they’re tales or embedded with truths long hidden from most. They’re usually deified and worshiped with rituals assigned to each which may include human sacrifice. Where do we see parallels of the same in scripture? Whether you call him Zeus, Baal or by another name what is the source? If you’re not summoning the Most High who are you beckoning? The answer is evident for believers.

In respect to Clement, what do we know of the Vatican? They have a lot of artifacts in their possession and rare books as well. Knowledge is power and requires an equitable responsibility in its dispense and example. A spiritual leader has more accountability in the heavenly than a layman. Hence the warning provided by James. What might be acceptable for the ignorant is viewed with greater scrutiny for the learned.

We are meant to grow in holiness as we mature. Give no heed to the stature but the fruit therein. I have no mythological figures in my home or depictions of beasts and the like. Because I know what I’m looking at. I don’t divorce the truth for aesthetics because I’m accountable. Convictions are borne from righteousness. And bear mind the office too. What are the responsibilities of shepherds, teachers, etc. biblically? And what did the Lord say to Samuel as he stood before Jesse’s sons to anoint a king? Man looks at the outer but God weighs the heart.

How would a modern physicist or biologist even go about answering this question? (Hint: they wouldn't because the question in the OP doesn't pertain to these fields, and thus, it doesn't really belong here).

From the angle of the humanities, social science, and historiography, I'd simply say that you seem to be reifying mythical elements that we don't really know to be factual aspects of our world, whether those elements---interesting as they may be---are past or present.

If we're going to invoke a 'biblical' sensibility in any of our musing about the nature of myths of the past, I tend to see the Torah as an ancient form of prophetic 'DE-mythologizing' of what came before it and was even more ancient than itself.

So, both scientifically and biblically speaking, I wouldn't take the confabulations of Mesopotamian, Egyptian and/or later Grecian myths too seriously...........

All mythology is of the devil, including the book of Enoch. Remain faithful to the Spirit-filled Canon of 66 Books and you won't be led astray.

The Lord doesn't want us to entertain ourselves away from our personal relationship with Him and become barren - and actually work counter to His Gospel.

I have thought along these lines myself. I think Enoch and/or Jasher speak to this. Normally, humans and animals do not interbreed simply because their DNA does not match, and even the number of chromosomes differs. However, the fallen angels were somehow able to mix these breeds and create what some translators refer to as "monsters." I do not think they used scientific methods to do this. I suspect they were endowed with some powers and abilities that enabled them to perform "miracles." I do not think modern science is able to cross species and create viable creatures.

There seems to be quite a bit of seed mixing going on in the OT , and one story that still creates controversy is the Lion like men of Moab

And even today there are hints of possible seed mixing or creating chimeras.
Remember the Montauk monster ?

And I have no way of proving this , but I have heard that the soldiers that are fighting the enemy in the underground tunnels are not only fighting humans , but also Chimeras. The one that I heard about was supposed to be half bat and half human type creatures and very dangerous.
