Did Kenneth Hagin Commit Plagiarism?

Thanks for the quote from the Kenyon website, Dids - it was nice to read such a gracious and thought-full response.

I am not a Hagin fan, but I wouldn't call him a plagiarist for several of the reasons already stated - and most eloquently by SriLanka4Jesus. Very articulate and balanced post.

The only thing I see unanswered thus far in this thread is ProAmerican's question:

1) I have not seen anywhere on here that Hagin called Kenyon a metaphysicist (wow, that word is hard to type, lol).

2) I doubt Hagin would have used the word "metaphysicist" - he probably doesn't know what it means - and I'm not saying that to insult Hagin at all - it just doesn't sound like him. As was said before - a publicist or possibly an intern-type person probably wrote that statement.

3) What the statement said was that Hagin denies being "metaphysically influenced" by Kenyon. The word "metaphysical" is a worldly term for what we SF/PC's call "supernatural" - so the statement issued seems unrelated to the charge. Hmmm......

If you can bash any person (in this case Kenneth Hagin) I would think by common standards of fairplay and decency (I am not talking Bible) we should permit views that support the man. It seems sadly that anyone who seemingly 'supports' him will be identified as a WoF person encroaching on pentecostal territory????

If he thought it was tat amazing he should have credited his orginal source. There is no shame in acknowledgeing that something came from another source and it is important so that later no one can say "BtW you plagarised this

I'm a student and its an automatic fail, plus being put on an alert list for the rest of my time at university for plagarism

There are no excuses for not giving credit to the orginal source

Legally speaking, Kenneth Hagin plagiarized. I believe this explanation to be correct:

1. Kenneth Hagin read the Kenyon books (or he heard/read someone else quote it almost word for word).
2. Kenneth Hagin preached and taught and recalled/recited the Kenyon material.
3. Someone wrote down in book form what Hagin had preached and taught.
4. Kenneth Hagin Ministries is guilty of plagiarism.

This is a comparison list of 8 books by Kenyon and 8 by Hagin. Compare them, then decide. As well, read what Kenyon's daughter has to say about this.

The eight books by Hagin stretch from 1973-81. Rhema Bible Training Center was founded in 1974.

Talk about sad.

I've seen Hagin preach. It was a wonderful service. He seemed like a wonderful person. I think he loved Jesus and served him with all his heart.

I think Hagin may have copied the works without being educated well enough to understand the significance of quoting, and then, when he was in circumstances way over his head, he tried to fudge his way through. Only God knows. Let's forgive him and not be too hard on him.

However, I believe "name it and claim it" theology is clearly wrong and sends people off in an incorrect direction. I write against it on my web site. But there is and has been a lot of incorrect theology out there, and people get by. Focusing on the blood of Christ is what counts.

It is amazing though--how many highly successful ministries in bringing people to Christ are Faith Movement. God is blessing the movement and using it to win souls; no one can doubt that. And, the Faith Movement people I've known are very fine people. I'd rather be with them, than most people I know who are correct in every detail of theology.

I disagree with your assertion of intellect being an excuse.

Hank Hanegraaff is given no leway whith his charges of plagerism. Yet Hagin is?
I don't think anyone should be given leway with such things unless there is a suttable reason given by the accused.

Men of God should be held to the same standards that all are held to.
That was the leven of the pharasies. Not holding your inner self to the same standards you hold everyone else with.

Just because someone doesnt acknowledge plagarism, doesnt mean its not plagurism

And if it looked like plagarism, chances are it probably was
