Yeah, this is probably complete nonsense, but isn't it possible?
Jesus suffered for our sins, right? And ALL the sins of the WORLD were placed on HIM when he suffered on the cross. Isn't that why God forsook him? Becuase at that time he WAS sin? (Where he yells "Father, father, why hast thou forsaken me?)
Well, three days later, he rose from the dead? But was he in hell during those three days? Then, when he came back to life, he had escaped hell, defeating the devil and "Killing death forever"? I dunno, just some random thoughts.
I agree with Mothersjoy that Jesus was quoting Psalm 22 when He said My God, My God, why have you forsaken me.If you read the rest of the passage it says in Matthew 27:
46 About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"--which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
47 When some of those standing there heard this, they said, "He's calling Elijah."
48 Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a stick, and offered it to Jesus to drink.
49 The rest said, "Now leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to save him."
50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split.
52 The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life.
53 They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son of God!"
The centurion and those that were with him finally believed Jesus was the Son of God..
As for Jesus going to hell, I don't think he did because Matthew 12:40 says For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The Greek word for heart is kardia
2588. kardia, kar-dee'-ah; prol. from a prim. kar (Lat. cor, "heart"); the heart, i.e. (fig.) the thoughts or feelings (mind); also (by anal.) the middle:--(+ broken-) heart (-ed). The best definition here is middle, Jesus was in the middle of the earth for three days and three night, i.e., six feet under. As for Jesus going to hell a passage that might be used to support this belief is 1 Peter 3:18 For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,
19 through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison
20 who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,
The word for through is 3739. hos, hos; includ. fem., he, hay; and neut., ho, ho; prob. a prim. word (or perh. a form of the art. G3588); the rel. (sometimes demonstrative) pron., who, which, what, that:--one, (an-, the) other, some, that, what, which, who (-m, -se), etc. See also G3757.
Jesus was made alive by the Spirit which He preached to the spirits that were in prison. Verse 19 doesn't say He went to preach to the spirits while He was dead. I think when He was dead He was dead, and He preached to these spirits at another time.
